Today we had a small get-together to celebrate Glo’s retirement!

I only had the chance to work with Glo for the past two years, and I truly wish it had been longer. Glo is one of the most caring and thoughtful people I’ve met always ready to help and make those around her feel supported.

She’ll definitely be missed, not just by me, but by all the staff and the residents. Wishing you all the best in retirement, Glo you’ve earned every moment! 💐💛

We had the absolute pleasure of taking some of our lovely residents out for a visit to The Cavalier Centre in Much Wenlock today and what a beautiful experience it was!

The horses and ponies were gentle, calming, and brought so many smiles to everyone’s faces. There’s something truly special about spending time with these amazing animals peaceful, therapeutic, and heartwarming.

We also enjoyed some delicious tea and cake (always a hit! ☕🍰), which made the afternoon even sweeter.

A huge thank you to everyone at The Cavalier Centre for making us feel so welcome and creating such a memorable day. Your kindness and care mean the world 💕

Until next time 🐎😊

The Heart of Briarfields: How Sarah Evans Turns a Care Home into a True Home

In the quiet town of Shrewsbury, tucked among leafy streets and well-tended gardens, you’ll find Briarfields Care Home a place that feels more like a home than a facility. And at the centre of it all is Sarah Evans, the home manager whose steady hand and kind heart have helped shape Briarfields into the welcoming place it is today.

Sarah has worked in health and social care for over 23 years. She started out as a care assistant, and over time, moved into leadership not out of ambition, but because she genuinely cares about getting things right for the people she supports.

“I’ve always been drawn to looking after people,” Sarah says. “Working with older adults isn’t something I fell into it’s what I’ve always wanted to do.”

Under her guidance, Briarfields has become a place where small things matter. Birthdays come with proper cake and a good laugh, music drifts through the halls on quiet afternoons, people are treated as individuals, not just residents.

Sarah takes a hands-on approach to her role, making time each day to chat with residents, share a laugh, and check in on how they’re doing. Her office door is always open—whether someone needs a quick word, a bit of reassurance, or just a friendly face. For Sarah, being present and involved isn’t an added extra it’s simply how she believes care should be.

“I genuinely love my job,” Sarah says with a smile. “The home has such a warm, homely feel. The care staff really do care they go above and beyond every day. And the residents? They’re all so different, each with their own unique personality. That’s what makes this place so special.”

🌟 THANK YOU! 🌟

I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who sponsored me for my parachute jump! ✈️🪂

It was honestly the best (but scariest!) experience of my life, and I'm definitely feeling the ache today! 😅 But it was all worth it because, thanks to your incredible support, we’ve raised around £1,400! 🙌

A huge shoutout to the amazing staff, residents, families, and friends who sponsored me or came along to show their support especially my family who were on tender hooks – I’m so grateful for every single one of you. 💙

And a big thank you to Tilstock Freefall Club for making the whole experience safe, professional, and unforgettable. You were brilliant! 👏

Would I do it again? Yes, I would! 😄

I’ve got a few photos to share now, and I’ll upload the video as soon as it comes through – keep an eye out!

From the bottom of my heart – THANK YOU! 💖

🌟 A Look Back at a Wonderful Week at Briarfields Residential Home! 🌟
As we enjoy a peaceful Sunday, we're reflecting on a fun-filled and heartwarming week here at Briarfields — and what a week it was!

🎤 On Monday, we had a special visit from our favourite guest singer Mike McNeil, who never fails to get everyone smiling and singing along. This time he had some help — George stepped up as his apprentice and gave a performance to remember! 😂🎶

🎲 Tuesday started with a fantastic games morning — full of laughs and friendly competition. In the afternoon, the whole home smelled of fresh lavender as our residents made beautiful lavender bags using flowers grown right in our garden. It was a lovely, calming activity 💜🌿

🍅🥔 Wednesday was all about getting our hands dirty in the best way — our Gardening Club had a wonderful time picking our homegrown tomatoes and potatoes. The pride in those harvests was clear on everyone’s faces!

🛍️ On Thursday, we got playful again with a lively round of “The Price is Right”, followed by shopping picture bingo — two firm favourites that always bring the energy and excitement!

📖 And finally, on Friday, we slowed things down a little with Poetry Corner. Several of our residents read aloud their favourite poems — such a beautiful and moving way to end the week.

It’s been a week full of joy, creativity, music, and connection. We’re so proud of our Briarfields family and all the memories we continue to make together ❤️
