HPV - or human papillomavirus - is a virus most of us will be exposed to at some point in our lives, and it is quickly becoming one of the leading causes of mouth cancer.

The best way to protect yourself against HPV is to use a barrier contraception (like condoms or dental dams) and have the HPV vaccine when it is offered to you. It's typically offered to school children, but some adults are able to access it too. Just talk to your GP.
