The first Shrewsbury Parkinson's social of 2026 promises to be a great one!
Representatives from the National Trust will be coming along to talk about their "social prescribing" walks and talks, particularly locally at Attingham Park. We'll hear all about these walks tomorrow at 11.00am and are then invited to go to Attingham Park in June as their guests, when all-terrain mobility scooters will be available for those who need them.
A warm welcome to all of course (and that means members but also friends, carers, partners and anyone who supports Shrewsbury Parkinson's) . Refreshments provided, parking is available and the Beaconsfield Club (opposite the bus station, Shrewsbury) is fully accessible. Come along and make friends! Free!

Would you be happy to occasionally volunteer for Shrewsbury Parkinson's? It would mean once in a while helping collect money outside a supermarket, handing out leaflets or maybe making drinks at our social meetings.

Not really weather for walking tennis today and, as Ellie our coach isn't able to attend, sadly we've CANCELLED today's session.

However there is another session this month - Friday 16th January at 10.00am at the Cathie Sabin Community Tennis Centre - hope to see you then!

We've a special social meeting this month (on Wednesday 21st January) - a talk from the people at Attingham Park about the guided inclusive walks on the estate. These (free) walks, access-friendly, are held at special times each week and are just right for Parkinson's members and their companions-support.
Attingham Park is the large stately home in its own grounds near Shrewsbury. It's owned by the National Trust.
Do make a date in your diary for this one. It sounds like a great opportunity to learn more about how we can enjoy the great outdoors safely and comfortably!
We'll have the usual tea and biscuits at the meeting too...

Lovely to see that our friends at Abbey Foregate Post Office & Chatterbox Cards are supporting the group by putting out one of our collection boxes. A big thank you to them!

(And thank you as well to Pippa who does such a great job monitoring the collection boxes all round the town!)

Looks like another bright cold day here in Abbey Foregate.

We’ve put out a new collection tin for Shrewsbury Friends of Parkinson's - a charity close to our heart - along with our lilies from Shrewsbury Food Hub.

If you’re popping in for Post Office services or browsing Chatterbox for a card or gift, and have any change you can manage without, the tins for Shrewsbury Friends of Parkinson’s, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and West Mercia Search & Rescue would be so very grateful.
