Today, we had the honour and privilege of supporting a family through their final goodbye to a true character, someone whose presence clearly left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

It was a service filled with laughter, stories, emotion, and warmth. A real celebration of life, for a gentleman who absolutely deserved it.

We're Hiring: First Call / On-Call Operative

We’re looking for a calm, compassionate and reliable individual to join our on-call team at Evans & Son Funerals.

As a First Call Operative, you’ll play a vital role in our work—attending removals, supporting families with care and respect, and upholding the high standards that our name is built on.

About the Role:

- On-call hours (evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota)

- Attending first call removals in a professional and dignified manner

- Supporting other funeral professionals and teams where required

- Working alone or as part of a small, respectful team

- Flexible working patterns available

- Full training provided

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Professional, empathetic, and respectful

- Able to remain calm and composed in sensitive situations

- Discreet and dependable

- Clean driving licence holder (essential)

Based locally or within reasonable reach of the Shropshire/West Midlands Area

Previous experience in the funeral sector or care work is helpful but not essential—we value attitude, reliability, and compassion above all.
