Evans & Son are recruiting for a Funeral Operative to join our team.

This role will support both our own funerals and the work we continue to provide for other funeral directors across the region. We are looking for someone who can represent our family-run business with dignity, reliability, and compassion.

Key duties include:
• Bringing loved ones into our care with respect and professionalism

• Assisting on funerals as a bearer, driver, and support to the funeral director

• Preparing coffins, vehicles, and equipment to a high standard

• Maintaining cleanliness and presentation of vehicles and workspace

• Supporting families, clergy, and colleagues on the day of the funeral

• Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota where required

We are seeking someone well-presented, calm under pressure, physically capable, and committed to delivering the highest standard of care.

This role will be an important part of the next chapter for Evans & Son, and we’re looking for the right person to grow with us from the start.

Ryan and Abbie attended the Emstrey Crematorium and Cemetery Christmas Memorial Service this evening, a truly beautiful and heartfelt event. 🤍

The service offered families a gentle moment of reflection, bringing comfort and connection at a time of year that can feel especially difficult. The warm atmosphere, thoughtful words, and soft candlelight created a meaningful space for remembrance.

A sincere thank you to the team at Emstrey for organising such a touching service. 🕊️✨

Today we had the honour of looking after a family at Telford Crematorium , where a thoughtful and heartfelt service was held in the calm and beautiful surroundings of the chapel.

Supporting families through days like today is something we never take for granted. We take great care to ensure everything runs smoothly and sensitively, allowing those attending to focus on being together, sharing memories, and celebrating the life of their loved one in their own way.

The family did absolutely amazingly today. Their strength, unity, and the way they supported one another was truly admirable, and it was our privilege to stand alongside them.

We would like to sincerely thank the family for placing their trust in us at such a meaningful time.

Founded by Shane, this incredible local group offers free, confidential emotional and practical support to anyone in Shropshire who has experienced the loss of a loved one.

The service runs welcoming support groups across Shrewsbury, Telford, and Oswestry, providing a safe and understanding space for people to talk, share, and connect with others who truly understand what they’re going through.

At Evans & Son, we believe our care shouldn’t end once the funeral is over. Partnering with Shane means we can continue supporting families long after the service helping them find comfort, understanding, and hope in their journey through grief.
