Happy New Year!

As many of you will know I am currently not seeing patients whilst I register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC regulates all health and social care services in England and ensures the quality and safety of care in hospitals, dentists, ambulances, care homes, and the care given in people’s own homes.

This is an exciting time for my business and when I look back I am proud of how much I have achieved in eight months.

👂How to protect your hearing on bonfire night🔥

👂Stay at a safe distance.
👂The further away you are from loud sounds the safer you’ll be – if you can’t get far away (because you’re e.g. in someone’s back garden) then be sure to…..

👂….wear ear plugs!
👂Noise reducing ear plugs will maintain sound quality but turn down the volume so it’s safe for your ears.

👂Protect your children’s ears
👂 Children’s young ears can be extra sensitive to loud noises and the best way to protect their hearing is with a pair of ear defenders —which are easier to wear than ear plugs. Also, look out for locally organised bonfires as many have two firework displays - the first one being quieter.

👂Take a break.
👂Luckily, for your ears, fireworks displays don’t last too long, but the longer you’re exposed to loud noises over 85dB the more your ears will suffer. If your ears are hurting, it’s definitely time to move away.

👂Drink plenty of fluids.
👂The hair cells in your inner ear can be more vulnerable to damage if you’re dehydrated. So think about taking a bottle of water with you.

👂The tympanic membrane (ear drum) is the physical barrier between the outer ear (pinna and ear canal) and middle ear, and it protects the middle and inner ear structures. It also plays an important role in sound transmission from the outer ear to the auditory ossicles (bones of hearing) malleus, incus and stapes - which are the smallest bones in the body.

👂 The ear drum is made up of three layers;
👉 An outer layer made of epithelial tissue. This is the same type of tissue that lines the outer surfaces of your body.
👉A middle layer, made of flexible, fibrous tissue. This layer contains nerves and blood vessels.
👉An inner layer, made of mucosa.
