🪴Today we have been repotting the tomatoes we started growing a few weeks ago from seed. They have shot up so we have weeded some troughs, replanted them and added some canes. We also repotted some freesias, and dahlias. At one point we had more soil on the residents than in the pots but we all enjoyed getting 'green fingered'.🪴the sunflowers are still a bit little to go out yet, but watch this space🌻

🧶Today we had some work experience pupils from Westbury School who joined our morning knitters. They helped hold the knitting machines and cast off, and two also learnt how to hand knit by one of our fantastic residents! This afternoon, due to Hillcrest having some super new flooring put down, we did a little one to one knitting. Using the machines is fantastic for dexterity, and allows those who used to knit to continue their favourite hobbies, with independence🧶More baby hats made!

Today at Hillcrest we had 'World Art Day' some residents chose to draw or do some colouring which is known to be a good tonic for all ages! It was nice and relaxing to chat along as doing so! Other residents looked at some old books and magazines and enjoyed being read to, a little something for everyone!📕 ✍️

Today at Hillcrest we celebrated a birthday with one of our lovely gentlemen residents who is 82 today, our cook Suzanne made a beautiful cake to share, who doesn't love cake! 🎂

🎶⛪️It was our monthly visit from Holy Trinity Church Minsterley choir this afternoon. We always enjoy singing hymns together, then having a natter over a cuppa and cake. We always appreciate their visits - being involved with our local community means a lot to us here at Hillcrest. Thank you to all the church members - we are looking forward to next month already!🎶⛪️

🎶It was Friday afternoon singalong time today! We had a mixture of all sorts on the large screen to sing along to, including a request for Dolly Parton. Music reaches us in such different ways, from a tap of a foot to singing out loud, it is an absolute therapy for our souls. It evokes memories, and feelings within us all🎶

🏇It is Grand National weekend coming up, so we got into the spirit today by doing a sweepstake, and imagining we were there with a glass of fizz, fresh strawberries, wearing our hats, and watching the first day of races on tv (plus an almost real life jockey in the building). Fingers crossed you've picked a winner for Saturday!🏇🏇 We also wished a very 'Happy Birthday' to one of our lovely ladies- 94 today! 🎂

💐A chilled bank holiday Monday flower arranging today. Residents made some lovely posies out of a variety of flowers, which brightened up the lounge. They chose the colours they wanted to use and cut them down to fit the jars. They look super!💐
🍫We have also drawn our Easter raffle - congratulations to our lovely Nikki who won first prize, with Shirley Sutton and Gill Hamer winner our runner up prizes. Enjoy your treats ladies!🍫

🐣Happy Easter from Hillcrest! We have had a super day today, starting with an Easter service on the livestream from Pontesbury Baptist Church this morning, then we had a visit from eight little Easter chicks (1-2 days old), and Alice and Izzie, who helped our residents look at the chicks, and chatted with them. The Easter bunnies then delivered Easter eggs to our residents. Thank you to Jan and Lucy for bringing the chicks in, and to the children for chatting with the residents.What a lovely day!🐣

🐣🍫Our Easter raffle will be drawn on Monday afternoon, so there is still time to purchase your raffle tickets from reception or Sally. All proceeds go to our residents comfort fund, which allows us to provide a variety of activities, events and entertainers for our amazing residents 🐣🍫 thank you for your support.

What else would you do on a chilled Good Friday other than some Easter crafts whilst watching 'The Sound of Music'. Singing along to Eidelweiss and 'Doe a Deer' whilst decorating eggs, making felt flowers, and chatting over a cuppa. Perfect!👌🏻

We welcomed back Reverend Fran to Hillcrest today, to take our Holy Communion service. We thoroughly enjoyed the service, then had a cuppa and cake, and a good natter about the milkman, Cornwall, and scrumpy cider to name but a few conversations!! We also said a very Happy Birthday to one of our lovely ladies, who enjoyed her birthday cake following our communion service.
