About us
PTBM (Proud To Be Me) focus on supporting vulnerable adults within the community who may be experiencing anxiety after a traumatic experience, mental health issues, learning disabilities, Autism or individuals that have recently left care and need support to be independent and integrate into society.
We support individuals to get out and about, join in, remain independent and be in control. We also help within the home, keeping on top of the housework, finances, budgeting, even repairs, gardening or any decorating that may need doing. Whatever the need, we have honest, reliable teams ready and waiting.
The Role of our Mental Health Support Workers
We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Support Worker on a part time zero-hour contract, working across Shrewsbury. You will be part of a small supportive team, working in a fast-paced but rewarding environment where no two days are the same.
We are a goal focused service providing information and mental health support for anyone in need living across Shropshire. We work alongside people to overcome obstacles, helping them move forward with their life, empowering them to deal with issues currently affecting their well-being, support them to deal with finances, debt, housing, work, education, training and volunteering. We also offer support for improving physical health and lifestyle, to develop coping strategies, ways to improve and manage their mental wellbeing. We also help reduce feelings of isolation, supporting people to meet like-minded people and to feel part of their community.
You will provide one to one support to a variety of service users, working mainly in the community. We cover the length and breadth of Shropshire so you would need to be comfortable driving around and potentially transporting clients around too.
Skills and Experience
• You will have the ability to conduct a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop and devise plans and activities to meet these needs.
• You have the right attitude, good customer service/people skills, share our values and are willing to learn.
• You will be committed to delivering a person-centred approach, with an open-mind and are keen to make a difference to the lives of our clients.
• You will need to be a full UK driving licence holder and have your own transport.
• You will be available to work at least 1 weekend day a month.
• Similar previous work experience is helpful but not essential. Your experience may be from a personal (friend, family, or self), professional or educational perspective. We provide full training to the successful candidate.
What We Offer
• £11.44 rate of pay (dependent on experience)
• Travel time paid.
• Mileage paid at 45p.
• Paid for enhanced DBS.
• Regular events for both employees and service users.
• Working hours between 8am- 6pm. We offer flexible and adaptive working arrangements.
