So what is a multi disciplinary team and how can one help you? Ami explains!

This week we introduce Paula Reynolds, Counsellor & Psychotherapist.

I am a qualified person centred counsellor and psychotherapist and a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherpay). I hold a Bsc Hons degree in Psychology, a masters in Human Resouces Management and a certificate in couples and psychosexual therapy (CORST accredited).

I also hold a current enhanced disclosure criminal records bureau certificate (DBS certificate). Prior to training as a counsellor, I have worked in both education and Human Resources.

In my private practice in Shrewsbury, I work with adults, young people (secondary and primary school aged) and couples across a diverse range of issues that arise in counselling.

My areas of interest/specialism are bereavement, couples, young people and domestic abuse. Where appropriate, I also use elements of mindfulness to help with anxiety and low mood. Additionally, I have experience of working in a hospice, where I provided counselling to bereaved families and friends and more recently I worked with the INFO shop and the TRAC team counselling young people from both primary and secondary schools.

I provide a safe, confidential, non judgemental and friendly space for couples and individuals to explore and deal with recent and long standing personal issues.

Next up, Meet Jacquie Hampton, Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

'I am an experienced Therapist, Coach, supervisor and Trainer and work with both adults and young people, helping them explore and resolve their problems and concerns. These can include relationships problems, stress, anxiety, depression and the many challenges associated with loss and bereavement.

I bring to my work my significant experience in the corporate, education and voluntary sectors. As well as running my own business, I have worked with a number of different organizations including global private sector companies, large government departments and charities such as Cruse and Samaritans.

I have an enhanced DBS check and I am an accredited member of the NSC and a registered member of the BACP and the National Fertility Society. I am also accredited by The Foundation for Infant Loss to support parents who are bereaved by miscarriage, stillbirth or a neonatal loss.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, a Level 6 Advanced Diploma in CBT as well as a Diploma in Coaching, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Supervision. I am also a qualified Time to Think Coach.

In addition I have had specialist training in

-Online Therapy (phone, e-mail, video conferencing and IM)
-Mindfulness
-Working creatively
-Su***de and emotional distress.'

Based in a stylish Georgian building in the centre of Shrewsbury, our light and airy room is available for hire.

It can be a therapy room for 1:1, couples, or family sessions but it can also be used as a training room.

We think its about time we reintroduced the team of therapists that we work with!

First up on one of our two directors, Ami Davies

Here's what Ami has to say -

I am a specialist speech and language therapist working predominantly with neurodiverse children and young people, specialising in social, emotional, and mental health needs, including Selective Mutism. I am also a Makaton tutor and Ambassador, I am dysphagia trained and I am currently training as an outdoor practitioner.

I run a small practice with associate Speech and Language Therapists who have a range of specialisms including early years, coaching and training, sensory integration, Makaton tutors, and social, emotional and mental health needs. We are based in Shrewsbury but can travel throughout Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and border areas.
