After a few rounds of Bingo this morning we fancied some baking. Only Aileen resisted the post dinner snooze to make some gluten free jammy biscuits. They are delicious!

RAF honours veteran with special nuclear testing medal.

We had a special visit yesterday from RAF Shawbury who presented our residents Ben with a special nuclear testing medal. Ben served in the RAF on Christmas islands. Wing Commander Mark Paxman and Flight lt. Adrian Vine came to River Meadows with 2 graduates from the RAF academy in Shawbury to present Ben with this medal, a 75 year anniversary yearbook and a special coin from the station commander.
Ben was very proud and thankful to receive this honour.

This afternoon we had a very special visit from Green Man Morris, a Morris dancing troupe from north Shropshire/south Cheshire.
Our residents enjoyed it so much they promptly invited the dancers back for our summer party next year. 😃💚🪶🌻🌼🌺🌹🌸🌷

A few updates from this week at River Meadows. On Tuesday we held our second veterans coffee morning and welcomed 3 gentlemen from the British legion. It was a lovely morning exchanging stories of life on the forces. Our next veterans coffee morning is on the 28th August. This is open to anyone wanting to meet others connected to the forces.
River Meadows is an accredited Veteran friendly home. These coffee mornings are part of our commitment to provide the best possible care to veterans and veterans families living at River Meadows.

We are very sorry to inform you that little Moses has passed away this evening. We tried so hard to make it work for him but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. Farewell little one, you touched so many hearts in your little short life! 💔🐾💔🐾💔🐾

Although the wellbeing of our youngest furry patient is on most people's mind, we still keep busy with our monthly programme. Today we celebrated Biscuit day for no particular reason other than we fancied some mcvities chocolate digestives and they are 100 years old this year. Marisa stocked up on other posh biscuits too which were enjoyed by everyone throughout the day.
We also baked today and made gluten free Empire Biscuits. Hail the biscuit!

Moses comes and steals hearts. Wherever he goes. Out on the road with Marisa on her regional day it's safe to say his fanclub gained a lot of new members today. Moses is famous! 🥰❤️🐾
