Where do you find help and support in perimenopause and menopause locally?

As we have had many new followers to the page lately, I thought it was time for a quick reminder of what Shropshire Menopause Hub is all about.

Shirley, Sarah and Nicky are midlife women, who have had completely different experiences of menopause and have spent time supporting other women in different ways. However, we all agree that there is an overwhelming amount of online information about menopause but this can be of varying quality and often not research based. We also share the belief that bringing women together to support each other is extremely effective in menopause.

Shropshire Menopause Hub was launched in September 2025 and continues to grow and evolve. We rely on members feedback to shape the hub in the way they find most useful.

Information is a big part of the hub. We invite expert speakers to deliver monthly talks, both online and in person, covering a huge range of topics relevant to midlife. We never “tell” our members what they need to do, instead we offer great quality talks, from experts in their field, to allow members to build their own toolkit to manage their own menopause. The talks are recorded, allowing members to catch up on any they can’t make live or watch back if they would like to.
We also post information into the private Facebook group regularly, about relevant and current issues related to menopause.

Connection is encouraged by holding in person events, where there is always lots of chat, lightbulb moments “I’m not the only one” and being surrounded by people who just “get it”. You will always be welcomed into our group and can take part in discussions and ask questions or sit and listen if you prefer. There is never any judgment.

We also have monthly meet ups in local coffee shops for those who are free and want to. This is where friendships form and who doesn’t like an hour or two, in good company with a decent coffee?

Our private Facebook group allows members to chat, ask questions and find out what is happening in the hub.

Currently we are still offering our introductory membership offer of just £14:99 per month. As well as all of the above for less that £4 per week, you have the opportunity to shape the membership the way you would like it.

Link in the comments for more information about joining or feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Shropshire Menopause Hub would like to say a huge thank you to Beth Mottershead Acupuncture for being our guest speaker on Tuesday evening.
We had a wonderful group of women, who all contributed with questions and comments and lots of laughter, it was a really fun and informative evening.

Beth’s warmth and compassion shone through, alongside her dedication to her profession and her passion for supporting women in menopause.

I left with a better understanding of how acupuncture can help in menopause, saw how fine the needles are and can now appreciate how important it is to help the body move into rest and repair mode. Plus, I am familiar with some acupressure points, which I can apply a little pressure to when I feel anxious or to help sleep - I have tried both with great effect!!

One of our members commented as she left, that she had learned lots but also felt she was leaving feeling a bit “lighter” and loved the atmosphere in the room.

If you would like to join us to feel this sense of camaraderie, plus learn some tips to make your menopause a little easier, take a look at the talks coming up. You would be welcome to come along on a pay as you go basis as a guest or join the membership and benefit from the complementary talks plus other benefits too.

Does your menopause feel like a “second spring”?

If I’m honest, mine doesn’t all of the time! I think that would be unrealistic but I’m really keen to have many solutions in my menopause toolkit to manage the more difficult times.

HRT works well for me, most of the time but occasionally I suffer with brain fog, low mood & little energy. These are the times I think I would benefit from another option and I can’t wait to hear about acupuncture for menopause and embracing the second spring, tomorrow evening.

Shropshire Menopause Hub is all about bringing you experts in their field to talk to you about how you can manage your menopause. You then choose which is right for you.

If you would like to know more about how acupuncture could help you and learn some self help tips using acupressure points, come and join us at 7pm tomorrow evening. Guest tickets and more info available in comments or just come along and pay on the night. We look forward to welcoming you.

There is more conversation about menopause than ever before.

But knowing what’s relevant to you and what’s happening locally can still feel unclear.

That’s one of the reasons we created the Shropshire Menopause Hub email.

Once a month we share:

• updates on what’s happening at the Hub
• upcoming speakers and events
• conversations and topics we’re exploring
• ways to get involved and feel part of the community

If you would like to receive it, you can join the list here:

Results are in!

Thanks to everyone who voted in our poll.

Lots of people have tried acupuncture for other reasons, with just a few benefitting from acupuncture support in menopause.

I am in this category and I’m not sure why! Although I’m happy with HRT, I do get times when joint pain, anxiety and sleep disturbances are a problem and I know these are symptoms associated with menopause, so I’m really looking forward to our next expert talk on 14th April with Beth Mottershead Acupuncture!

Knowledge about acupuncture varied but most people who voted would like to know more.

So, if you would like to hear more about acupuncture in menopause, join us on 14th April 7-9pm. Guest tickets and more information in the link:

What springs to mind when you think of menopause?

“The change”, hot flushes, brain fog, crumbling joints, tired, irritable.

Generally negative and often descriptions of the many symptoms that can be associated with menopause.

In China the menopause is often referred to as the “second spring” and it is seen as a positive phase of independence, renewed energy and rediscovering identity.

We will be hearing more about the second spring and how the Traditional Chinese Medicine practice of acupuncture can support women to embrace this era, which is often over a third of our lifetime.

You are invited to join Shropshire Menopause Hub, to listen to Beth Mottershead, experienced acupuncturist and passionate advocate for women’s health, talk about how acupuncture can help us in menopause. 7-9pm on 14th April.

More information and link to purchase ticket in the comments.

That was such a good conversation.
If you joined us live over on Instagram, thank you.
If you didn’t, here's the playback, so do have a watch.
Beth shared so much around:
how acupuncture supports the nervous system
why it can help with hot flushes, sleep and mood
and what she’s seeing with women in midlife every day
It’s one of those areas where the research is there…
but hearing it in real life just lands differently.
And this is exactly why we bring speakers like Beth into the Shropshire Menopause Hub, so you can hear it properly, ask questions, and understand what might work for you.
Beth will be joining us in person on 14th April in Shrewsbury
to go deeper into all of this.
If you’ve been thinking about coming, this is your nudge.
Come and listen.
Come and ask.
Come and explore your options.

Don’t miss this, live on instagram at 10am tomorrow, Sarah is having a menopause conversation with Beth Mottershead Acupuncture. They will be chatting about menopause and Beth’s talk for Shropshire Menopause Hub on Tuesday 14th April at 7pm. Guest tickets available. We will post the conversation here after the live on instagram.

Curious about acupuncture in menopause?

This Thursday, you can hear about it properly.

Sarah will be joined by Beth Mottershead, women’s health acupuncturist, for a live conversation on Instagram, on midlife, menopause, and how acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can support you through it.

We’ll be chatting about:
❤️ Beth’s own experience of menopause.
🤗 What she sees in clinic every day.
✅ Where acupuncture can make a real difference (think hot flushes, sleep, mood, period health).

And how this kind of support can sit alongside everything else you might be doing, giving you more options, not more confusion.

If you’ve been wondering whether it’s worth exploring, come and listen in.

📅 Thursday 2nd April.
🎙️ Live on Instagram.
⏰ 10:00.

This is a great chance to meet her and hear what she’ll be sharing on the night.
