We're Always Looking for Volunteers!

There are so many ways you can get involved and make a difference—from helping out with our wellbeing vehicle, tending to our community allotment, supporting our drop-in services, calmer cafés, or peer support groups.

Or maybe you have marketing experience and can spare a few hours to help us spread the word.

Whatever your skills or interests, if you want to be part of the change, we’d love to hear from you.

🌟 Celebrating Simon Wootton – A True Champion for Mental Health 🌟

We couldn't be more proud of Simon Wootton, who was recently recognised by the High Sheriff of Shropsbury for his unwavering support of Shropshire Mental Health Support.

Now in his third year of fundraising for our charity, Simon continues to push his limits with endurance challenges that raise both vital funds and awareness for mental health. His dedication is deeply personal — each year, he takes on a challenge in memory of his brother, Tom Butler, who would have turned 32 this year.

To honour Tom, Simon is preparing for his most ambitious challenge yet: walking up and down the Wrekin continuously for 32 hours, surpassing his previous 24-hour effort. 💪

Simon’s passion is shared by his sister, who has also taken on fundraising efforts of her own. Together, they are a powerful force for good, supporting our events and championing mental health advocacy across the region.

From all of us at Shropshire Mental Health Support — thank you, Simon and family. Your strength, heart, and dedication inspire us all.

🌟 Celebrating Tony Edwards – A Truly Deserving Recognition 🌟

We are incredibly proud to share that our Vice Chairman, Tony Edwards, has received a well-deserved award from the High Sheriff – a recognition of his unwavering dedication and service to Shropshire Mental Health Support.

For the past three years, Tony has been a cornerstone of our charity. Every single Wednesday without fail, he donates his time to provide essential IT support – but his contributions go far beyond the technical.

Tony greets everyone with a warm smile, brings a sense of positivity and calm to the office, and never lets us go without a cup of tea or coffee. ☕

He’s also a vital part of our outreach work, regularly volunteering to drive our wellbeing vehicle and lending a hand at community events. Personally, he has been my right-hand man at countless events – always just a phone call away, ready to offer advice, help solve problems, or simply be there when we need him most.

Tony, your kindness, reliability, and quiet strength make a huge difference every day. We are so grateful to have you on our team.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to former Mayor of Shrewsbury, David Vasmer, and his incredible team for selecting Shropshire Mental Health Support as one of his Charities of the Year, alongside Omega – Ending Loneliness and Isolation.

Thanks to their hard work, dedication, and generosity, a fantastic total of £3,500 was raised and shared between our two local charities. This support means so much to us and will make a real difference in the lives of people across Shropshire.

Thank you again, David and team – your commitment to our community is truly appreciated.

A huge thank you to Sean (fun fact: he's our chairman's son!) for taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge alongside some of his colleagues, all in support of Shropshire MHS.

Despite some tricky weather conditions, they powered through and successfully completed the trek, raising over £600 in the process!

We’re incredibly grateful for their support and dedication. Well done, team! 👏⛰️💙

There is still time to donate!

As my time at SMHS comes to an end, I’ve been reflecting on what this journey has meant to me.

Being part of a community with a purpose is incredibly powerful. For me, marketing, fundraising, and events aren't just items on a to-do list—they're how we connect, uplift one another, and create meaningful change.

Mental health is something I care about deeply. Supporting a charity that works every day to break stigma, build understanding, and offer hope isn't just a job—it's personal. It's work I believe in with all my heart.

I’ve been proud to lead and support events that bring people together, create safe spaces, and raise vital funds. From community fun days to powerful awareness campaigns, every effort has been a chance to make a difference.

This work has connected me with people who care. I’ve helped shape events, raise our profile, and tell stories that truly move hearts. Behind every pound raised is a person with a reason—and I never take that for granted.

Every event. Every campaign. Every conversation. They all matter.

And I’m all in.

Because when we work for our community, we feel it.

And that feeling—that sense of purpose—is exactly why I do what I do.
