If you woke up tomorrow in the body of someone you deeply love,

how differently would you treat it by the end of the day?

Sit with that.

I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Excitement vs Anxiety: They Can Feel Surprisingly Similar

It’s easy to confuse excitement and anxiety because they share many of the same physical sensations: a racing heart, butterflies in the stomach, quickened breathing, restlessness, and heightened alertness.

The body’s activation system is involved in both. The difference often isn’t in how it feels physically—but in how the mind interprets it.

Anxiety tends to say:
“What if something goes wrong?”

Excitement tends to say:
“What if something goes right?”

The same energy, two different meanings.

I wish people knew that counselling…

✨️ isn’t just for “serious problems”
✨️ isn’t about being told what to do
✨️isn’t quick or instant
✨️ isn’t always comfortable
✨️ isn’t a sign of weakness
✨️isn’t only about the past
✨️ isn’t one-size-fits-all
✨️isn’t about being judged
✨️isn’t fixing — you’re not broken

It’s simply support.

Look out for these posts every Tuesday as a prompt to reflect on what you are grateful for.✨️

How are your energy levels this week?

It can be helpful to pause and notice this without judgement.

For some, energy feels steady; for others it may feel more variable or harder to access than usual.

With half term just passed, you might also notice a shift as routines change and then settle again. That adjustment period can sometimes leave us feeling a little out of rhythm.

Wherever you find yourself, it’s okay to take things at a gentler pace and check in with what you need day by day.

April can be unpredictable, sun one moment, rain the next. Our emotions can feel just like that: changeable, shifting, sometimes hard to keep up with.
Some seasons feel heavier, slower, a little harder to carry.
But just like the weather, those feelings don’t stay the same forever—and they can make space for something new to grow.
If things feel a bit grey right now, you don’t have to go through it alone.
We can sit with it together, gently, at your pace 🌱

Thursday thoughts 🧠
Common misconceptions about anxiety…

• it’s “just overthinking”
• you can just “calm down”
• it’s all in your head
• avoiding things will make it better
• strong people don’t struggle with it
• it looks the same for everyone
• it always has a clear cause
• it’s something you should be able to control
• talking about it makes it worse

Anxiety is real, valid, and manageable with the right support.

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

You are not alone.
Whatever you’re carrying right now, you don’t have to carry it by yourself. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens in connection, in being heard, and in feeling understood.
Strength doesn’t mean doing everything alone. Strength grows in connection. It grows when we reach out, speak up, and allow others to walk alongside us.
If today feels heavy, take this as a gentle reminder: support is available, and you deserve it.
Reach out. Talk to someone. You matter. 💚

🐣 Easter Monday Thought (with a little humour!)

Client: “I keep putting all my emotional eggs in one basket.”
Therapist: “Let’s work on spreading them out a bit.”

🥚✨ Life lesson: When everything feels overwhelming, it helps to share the load — with support, with friends, or with a professional who can help you sort through it.
Sometimes a little reflection (and a little chocolate 🍫) can go a long way.
Wishing everyone a gentle and hopeful Easter Monday.

🌱 New Beginnings Start with One Step

Sometimes the hardest part of change is simply allowing yourself to start.

A new beginning doesn’t mean forgetting the past — it means learning from it and giving yourself permission to grow beyond it.
Whether you're healing, rebuilding, or rediscovering who you are, remember: ✨

Progress can be slow
✨ Healing is not linear
✨ You are allowed to begin again

If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed, you don't have to face it alone. Support can make the journey lighter.

Good Friday is a reminder that love, sacrifice, and kindness can change the world.

Take a moment today to pause, reflect, and appreciate the people and moments that truly matter.

Even the darkest days can lead to new hope. ✨

How I work

I am a Person Centred Counsellor, based in Shrewsbury town centre, at The Centre For Integral Health. I also volunteer at a nearby counselling service.

Person Centred Therapy, relies on the relationship between counsellor and client, you will be fully accepted and shown unconditional positive regard, (UPR) congruence, and empathy. Receiving these conditions will enable you to see yourself in a new light. I believe that you have to ability to thrive at life and I am passionate about helping you achieve this.

Person Centred Therapy is a non directive approach, this means that I wont come to the sessions with an agenda. It's a fluid way of working ensuring all of your challenges are talked through, whether they are different from existing topics or not. It is also a way of working by encouraging and empowering you to become in control of your life. We will work in the here and now and will discuss ways of being present rather than consumed with the past or future.

I am a friendly, approachable, considerate person and offer confidential support without judgement.
