When I first started practicing (and later teaching) Ashtanga, I fell for them all

The truth:

Ashtanga isn’t rigid or elitist, it’s adaptable.

It isn’t just for the “strong & flexible” it’s for real people, just as as they are

Most modern yoga styles actually stem from Ashtanga

For me, it’s been a lifelong practice that fits who I am, and I’ve witnessed it transform the lives of so many others too.

If you’re a yoga teacher, or training to be one, this is for you.

These are the kind of reminders I wish I had when I started teaching…
and honestly, still need now and then.

It’s not about sounding perfect. Or getting the sequence ‘right’.
It’s about staying present, being real, and trusting your practice.

If you forget something or make a mistake, just keep going, because it’s likely no one noticed.

Whether you’re brand new or years deep, teaching yoga is an ongoing practice in itself.

AWARENESS IS THE ESSENCE OF MEDITATION

Awareness is one thought held. Awareness is not allowing this one thought to divide itself into two thoughts, three thoughts, four thoughts which constitute thinking.

Being Aka mediation is the absence of thinking. The essence of meditation is Awareness.

Rather than being led indirectly by the thinking mind that takes thought via the 5 senses which informs the intellect, allow the mind to stay as Awareness so that instead it is directly guided by thy true Mind that does not think - it knows. The true Mind is never personal - it is always Impersonal. The true Mind knows because it is a pure reflection of thy True Self as Brahman-God-The Nameless One.

In this manner, thought - IN-formation is given, however do not confuse this with thinking. It is much more refined than that. Much clearer - and is always in all ways without doubt.
