Acupuncture is great for pain, muscle cramps, stimulating blood flow, reducing swelling and speeding up healing. I’ve been using acupuncture for the last 14 years and still think it’s amazing!

So proud of this little guy today! He can now manage to get up by himself, walk by himself and even managed a step up today! He is now 12 weeks after becoming paralysed due to polyradiculoneuritis. We have done weekly physio 🙌

Rabbits also benefit from physiotherapy! This little guy needs ongoing physio to help his hock arthritis. He is a house rabbit and along with some pain medication he does a prescribed exercise program and has monthly physio including LASER Therapy.

A bit about me…

Hi I’m Hannah!

I live in Atcham, Shrewsbury with my husband, son and menagerie of animals on our farm.

When not working, I can be found riding, walking/ running our dogs and entertaining my toddler.

I’m passionate about helping people and animals move without pain and optimising that movement for sport or just for quality of life.

I’m director of Combined physio and have been a practicing Chartered physiotherapist treating people with pain and injuries for nearly 14 years.

I branched out into also treating animals and horses about 10 years ago after completing a masters in veterinary physiotherapy. I have never looked back.

One of the most common shoulder problems in dogs is a tendonopathy. This lovely Irish terrier was showing lameness. Scans showed a supraspinatus and biceps tendonopathy. She has had some platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, hence the clip.

We are now going to complete the rehabilitation with:
*A tendon loading program
* Laser therapy
*Releasing compensations she has developed
*Support jumping down

Within 8 weeks she should be back to normal exercise.

Successful rehab post deep digital flexor tendon injury.

(Sometimes comes with navicular soft tissue irritation which makes it trickier).

1. Laser therapy to tendons and holistic physiotherapy treatment to shoulder and back muscles which compensate.

2. A carefully graded loading program as tendons need loading to repair without compressing the navicular bursa.

3. Initial vet input with steroid injections to settle the inflammation.

4. Good farriery to offload and then support re loading.

5. Careful turnout management- avoiding deep or slippy mud.

Meet Lizzie! She has just started with us. She brings a wealth of experience in neurological physiotherapy especially. She now works with us at Combined physio on a Friday and the rest of the week she continues to work for the NHS in London.

In her spare time she enjoys cycling and going to the gym, hiking, and meeting up with friends at the pub! 🍻
