Celebrating 150 years of osteopathy and 42 years in practice 😳

πŸŽ‰In the run up to this very special World Osteopathy Day, we're delighted to bring you a series of equally special posts in celebration of 150 years of our wonderful profession.

Each day, we'll be sharing a πŸ’‘ Lightbulb Moment from one of our SCCO family; a moment of sudden illumination, whether on a course, in practice, or something that just suddenly hit home.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who's sent us their story. πŸ™

So let's get started with our first contribution from our Chair, Jane Easty...

πŸ’¬"Following my graduation in 1992, I attended my first cranial courses. On one such course I was tutored by Alan R Becker, brother of Rollin. As a very young osteopath I had no idea of who he was or what I was going to learn, having had limited exposure to cranial as an undergraduate. I was totally unprepared for the sensations of release I felt when he demonstrated a treatment of my nasal bones. The ease with which he connected with my mechanism engaging the potency still remains in my memory. Out I went into practice trying to understand and emulate what I had experienced so profoundly in myself. Thus began a lifelong journey of study leading to a real sense of awe for the natural laws of Health expressed in our patients. And indeed a respect for Nature itself."

Do please check your social feed for tomorrow's πŸ’‘ Lightbulb Moment...

Before your osteopathy appointment you might find it helpful to think about these questions so you can talk about your needs and goals for treatment. This will also help you take part in decisions about your treatment with your osteopath. For more information, see our Visiting an Osteopath leaflet on our website: https://bit.ly/3uASf8o
