Celebrating 150 years of osteopathy and 42 years in practice π³
πIn the run up to this very special World Osteopathy Day, we're delighted to bring you a series of equally special posts in celebration of 150 years of our wonderful profession.
Each day, we'll be sharing a π‘ Lightbulb Moment from one of our SCCO family; a moment of sudden illumination, whether on a course, in practice, or something that just suddenly hit home.
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who's sent us their story. π
So let's get started with our first contribution from our Chair, Jane Easty...
π¬"Following my graduation in 1992, I attended my first cranial courses. On one such course I was tutored by Alan R Becker, brother of Rollin. As a very young osteopath I had no idea of who he was or what I was going to learn, having had limited exposure to cranial as an undergraduate. I was totally unprepared for the sensations of release I felt when he demonstrated a treatment of my nasal bones. The ease with which he connected with my mechanism engaging the potency still remains in my memory. Out I went into practice trying to understand and emulate what I had experienced so profoundly in myself. Thus began a lifelong journey of study leading to a real sense of awe for the natural laws of Health expressed in our patients. And indeed a respect for Nature itself."
