Hello all, it’s Julie here! I hope you are all doing well, I’ve been busy behind the scenes in the clinic and haven’t been posting on my social media pages for quite some time. This is my “hello again!” 👋

Our trainee Institute Trichologists require patients during their time of study!

Consultations with our students are overseen by a qualified Trichologist. We are currently offering in-person consultations and treatments on the following days in London:

-Tuesday 20th January 2026 at 2pm (Harley Street)
-Wednesday 21st January 2026 at 2pm (Harley Street)
-Thursday 22nd January 2026 at 2pm (Wella Studios)
-Friday 23rd January 2026 at 2pm (Wella Studios).

Treatments with our students are priced at just £20.

Day 1 — of our Myth Busting week! - “Hair loss starts at the hair you can see.”

Reality: Hair loss starts at the follicle — and the follicle lives in skin.
Most people obsess over the visible part of the hair:
shampoos, serums, oils, “growth” products applied to the dead fibre!

What gets ignored is the fact that hair is produced by a biological organ embedded in scalp tissue.
If that organ is inflamed, miniaturising, hormonally sensitive, nutritionally compromised, or cycling abnormally, no (non-medical product is going to override that.)

Hair loss is a side effect, not the problem itself.

You cannot treat hair loss properly until you know what you’re dealing with.
Put the hair-loss shampoo down.
Get a diagnosis.
Only then does treatment make sense.

Did you know… it is a myth that you should avoid shampoos and conditioners containing sulphates and silicones as these are bad for hair.

Sulphates and silicones are not harmful and can often be found in many good quality products. Sulphates are a cleansing agent which help create the lathering effect experienced when shampooing, some hair types may benefit from this lather whilst others may respond better without. Silicones can help reduce frizz, offer a smoothing effect and add shine. Whilst these ingredients are harmless, their type and strength can vary between products which can have different effects on different hair types.

It is important people use products which are suited to the individual’s hair and skin type but at the same time should not be lured into thinking any ingredients found in shampoos and conditioners are harmful.

There are many types of hair loss/shedding, some are easily resolved , some need treatments or supplements 💊

A lot of people think they are being vane ,which is not so as your hair can predict how you feel in yourself 💁🏻‍♀️

In some cases your GP’s are not that worried as it’s not their speciality & don’t know all the reasons behind the loss, so it can go ignored. 😣

It can be very stressful for the individual and others may not see the loss that you see, or are “too polite” to say.
