☀️ Caring through the heat.

Just a few years ago, the crazy high temperatures we’re experiencing were rare. Now, they’re becoming the new normal.

For those we care for, especially older adults or anyone with health conditions, a cool home is a safe home.

Here are some helpful tips:
🪟 Close curtains and blinds during the day (especially on sun-facing windows)
🧊 Use fans or position a bowl of ice in front of one for a cooling breeze
🚪 Keep doors closed to block out heat from warmer rooms
🌙 Open windows at night when it’s cooler outside
🏡 Stay on lower floors where it’s naturally cooler
🛏️ Swap out thick bedding and cushions for lighter, breathable fabrics

We encourage care workers, clients, and families to keep an eye on rising indoor temperatures. A small change can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe and well.

💧Hydration matters, especially in this heat!

With the UK already experiencing two heatwaves this summer (and temperatures hitting the mid-30s), staying cool and hydrated is more important than ever.

We’re encouraging clients, care workers, and families to take a moment to check in on hydration (especially for older people and those who might not feel thirsty, even when they need fluids).

Here are a few quick reminders:
💧Aim for 6-8 glasses of water a day (more in hot weather)
🍓Hydrate with water-rich snacks like fruit, jelly, or yoghurt
🌡Stay indoors during peak heat (11am-3pm)
🧃Keep drinks visible and within reach (sometimes a gentle prompt makes all the difference)

Let’s look out for each water. A glass of water might seem small, but in a heatwave, it’s a lifeline.

☀️ A Perfect Picnic Afternoon in Earls Colne! 🧸

Daisy and Keeley had a wonderful time last week at the Earls Colne Teddy Bear Picnic! They loved showcasing Forest Homecare and meeting so many friendly faces in our community.

Their giant teddy bear raffle was a big hit, and they were delighted when a little girl's name was drawn as the winner! Her smile made their day. 😊

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a special event!
