It is with a heavy heart that we announce that at the end of March our Senior Partner Dr Ruth Silcox will be retiring. Over the past 18 years, initially at Hilton House and then the merge with Castle surgery to what has now grown into Hedingham Medical Centre.
We understand that the decision would not have been made lightly and we would like to thank her for all her hard work and dedication she has shown over the years, whilst also bringing up two daughters.
We wish her all the very best for this new chapter. A well loved GP and wonderful colleague.

RSV is a major cause of respiratory illness, particularly dangerous for infants and the elderly. The virus can lead to bronchiolitis and pneumonia, requiring hospitalisation and intensive care in severe cases. The new vaccination programme is a proactive measure to mitigate these risks and enhance public health. Please do not contact the surgery, we will invite you to book your vaccine if you are eligible.

For more information, please click on the link below.

A national respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine programme protecting infants and elderly people will save lives in the UK.

We’re not used to heatwaves in the UK and other than piling on sun cream, wearing a hat and keeping hydrated, we want to get out there and enjoy the sun while it lasts. But if you have allergies and are prescribed adrenaline auto-injectors (AAI’s) such as EpiPens, temperatures over 25°C and prolonged sun exposure can affect the stability and potency of the adrenaline (epinephrine) and the strength of your AAI may degrade. If a degraded AAI is used, it could result in an under dosage during anaphylaxis. 🤯

*REMEMBER: Your AAI should always be kept between 15 and 25°C. 🌡

So…

☀️ If your AAIs are kept in hot temperatures exceeding 25°C, for an extended period of time, they should be replaced immediately.

🕶 Keep your AAIs covered or in a dark place and make sure so that there is no opportunity for them to be in direct sunlight.

🫠 Never keep AAIs in the car.

🥶 Never refrigerate your AAIs.

🎒 Consider storing your AAIs in an insulated travel bag/pouch/case.

And then just because it’s an excellent time to remind you, never leave home without them!
