www.irishweddingfuneralsingerlondon.com I grew up singing in many choirs all over Dublin, including being one of the first girls chosen to sing in the previously all male choir of Chris

tchurch Cathedral. I studied singing under Dr Veronica Dunne in The Leinster School of Music and went on to sing solo with the RTE Concert Orchestra in The National Concert Hall, in "Agnus of God" in The Crypt in Dublin Castle and recently in Cadogan Hall, London with the Mozart Symphony Orchestra to name a few occasions. My vocal training has ensured I can sing most genres of music, but I love to sing Irish folk and religious/spiritual music. I understand that at sensitive occasions such as funerals, people don't always want an operatic voice, they often want something that sounds more angelic, innocent and pure. This is how I love to sing. I was notably chosen to be the lead singer in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance and toured the USA and Canada with the show. Currently, I live in Sidcup and serve many members of the Irish Community in London and the home counties at funeral and wedding masses. I am very familiar with Catholic hymns and masses and am often asked to sing modern songs, Irish folk and Gaelic songs. I am proud to say I am often asked to sing at funeral masses for the Irish Travelling community in England too. I am happy to learn songs that are special to you with notice. I can guide you through the funeral process and help you to choose songs if you need help. Ingrid Magee xx

"You Raise Me Up" was co-written by Rolf Løvland, who composed the music, and Brendan Graham, who wrote the lyrics. It was hugely popular in Ireland when Westlife recorded it.

I’ve been reading quotes from Saint Augustine and wow they are really beautiful. Reminds me of another beautiful spiritual writer Rumi who was from Afghanistan. I really like this one.

Song of Farewell

Song of Farewell if a beautiful hymn written by Ernest Sands. I usually sing this song at a very special part of a Funeral Mass -The "Final Commendation," or "Blessing of the coffin". This is a symbolic act of praying for the deceased and entrusting their soul to God. It often involves sprinkling the coffin with holy water, incensing it with incense, and saying prayers for the deceased. This ritual signifies the deceased's baptism, the hope of resurrection, and the prayers ascending to heaven for their well-being.
I think you will agree the words are very beautiful as is the melody which is just so perfect for that special moment in the Mass.

Many Thanks to my client for these lovely words. A pleasure to help you 🙏

Lent Week 4

I first learned this song as a member of the children's choir in Whitefriar Street Church, Dublin. I have always loved it. Fr Michael Joncas wrote the song from Psalm 91 (below) and I think the tune is just so beautiful.

I was recently asked to sing it at the funeral of a gentleman from Ireland and it really was a privilege to contribute to such a lovely Mass.

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

Lent Week 3 “Come see a man who told me everything I have done. Could he possibly be the Christ?” John 4:29

I recently sang at the funeral of a gentleman from Ireland. This was one of the songs requested. I really feel so honoured to be asked to be part of such special moments đź’š

Lent Weeks 2: "Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. Matthew 17:1–2"
