Our Pemberley House residents have been busy enjoying a relaxing acrylic art session, a first for everybody!

We love seeing our community's imagination and creativity run wild, with both new skills and friendships developing along the way. Their impressive mosaics are now taking centre stage in reception, a proud shared achievement on display.

Keeping fit is a great way to begin the New Year! 💪🏼

At Avery, we make sure all residents have the option to attend regular exercise classes. Keeping moving is known to improve mental health and well-being, especially with friends in a community setting!

Our classes are tailored to suit each resident's individual needs and abilities, from dance classes to gentle stretches - there really is something for everybody.

A big congratulations! 🥳

Amarna House were delighted to receive an overwhelmingly positive report from Healthwatch York, who recently visited the home.

Highlights included lots of positive feedback on our warm approach and friendly team members. Staff were praised for knowing all about their residents’ needs, likes and dislikes, as well as always going above and beyond!

The home was also complimented on their access to a range of meaningful activities, as well as the homely feel of the lounges and dining rooms. We were very touched to see that many of our residents shared feeling happy, supported and truly at home with Avery.

We wanted to thank everybody who makes Amarna House such a special place to be, from residents, families and friends to our highly dedicated team - we couldn't be prouder!

One benefit of community living is hearing a wealth of fascinating life stories, often over a cup of tea! 📚

Meet Mr Charles Stone, one of our Loxley Park residents. Born as Karl Siegfried Otto Klappholz in Czechoslovakia, Charles and his family fled to England in 1939, escaping N**i rule.

Since then, Charles has lived a life full of variety! From studying architecture, to becoming a Major in the military, running a steel business and later becoming a Church of England lay reader, he has many an interesting story to tell.

At Avery, sharing stories and recounting past memories is a regular highlight. It's always fascinating to find out how each resident's path has led them to choosing our homes today!

Merry Christmas from all of us at Avery!🎄

Today, our homes are filled with music and laughter, and stories of Christmas past. Later on, our residents will be eating a delicious Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, cooked by our wonderful chefs.

A huge thank you also to our incredible staff working today to make Christmas special for everyone in our care💙
