Support workers Supplied by Loring Hall Ltd
£10.50 an hour
We are currently looking for Support Workers to work at our residential care service in Sidcup.
Loring Hall Limited is a private organisation providing support services for adults with learning disabilities, mental health, people on the autistic spectrum and associated challenging behaviours. We are a growing company with excellent opportunities for staff development and progression within our company.
Service users are supported to live independent lives and participate in a range of community activities, including work placements and college.
We aim for our staff to support our Service users to get the most out of life. You could be assisting with practical things like planning meals and finances, accessing health appointments and employment opportunities, or you could be there to listen.
The residents we do work with have high challenging behaviour and we do use restraint as a last resort. Because of this you must be physically fit to undergo a full Physical Intervention training course in which you will have to be able to do a controlled take down to the floor. This is a mandatory requirement and all staff who work at Loring Hall must be able to do this.
What we’d like from you:
Ø Good communication both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with people with learning disabilities using a variety of methods to meet the needs of the individual.
Ø To have a good level of numeracy to assist the service user to manage their finances.
Ø QCF or equivalent NVQ level 2 or a willingness to undertake a QCF.
Ø The ability to work individually or as part of a team.
Ø To understand and adhere to safeguarding principles.
Ø To be honest, reliable, punctual, flexible and able to work shifts that include weekends and public holidays
Ø To value diversity and have a commitment to equal opportunities.
Ø To participate in staff meetings, training and other learning development opportunities
Ø To build positive relationships with client and work as part of a care team within a “Family” atmosphere.
Ø Full driving licence (but not essential)
Previous experience in this area of work is not essential if you have enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards supporting people with learning disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
