“I think my skin just needed some TLC and revitalizing...”

When our patient came to us, her main concern was severe dehydration and skin that felt “dull” from the winter months.

The collagen debate just got settled.

A study in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum just dropped, 16 meta analyses, 113 trials, over 8,000 participants worldwide.

And the verdict?

Yes, collagen supplements do work.

But probably not for the reason you’re taking them.

Here’s what the evidence actually shows:

✅ Improved skin elasticity
✅ Improved hydration
✅ Joint health — particularly relevant for menopausal women
❌ Lines and wrinkles? Not proven.

I’ve always been a fan.

The thing that gets missed in every supplement conversation is this.

A diet rich in animal or marine proteins (think bone broth), combined with vitamin C and zinc supplementation? The research suggests that stacks up just as well.

So if budget is tight and you’re choosing between a premium collagen tub and optimising your diet with targeted supps, that’s a completely valid call.
