Spikey massage balls: genius little tools… or tiny instruments of torture?
If you’ve ever rolled on one and questioned your life choices, you’re in good company. Used well, they can ease tight muscles, improve mobility and support recovery — but there is a right (and wrong) way to use them.

I’ve put together a simple guide on how to get the most out of them without overdoing it. https://osteotherapyhub.co.uk/spikey-massage-balls-instruments-of-torture/

Throwback Tuesday - I missed this one!!!

On 8th March 2024 the Osteo & Therapy Hub Cabin arrived - thanks to and their amazing driver for successfully manoeuvring the cabin in a very tight space.

The hub continues to be a safe calm space which I thoroughly enjoy working in. Looking out over the green paddocks and watching the horses and wildlife whilst receiving or giving treatment is very therapeutic.

Ever found yourself wondering “Osteopath, Chiropractor or Physiotherapist… who do I actually need?” You’re not alone — most people feel exactly the same when pain or stiffness shows up.

Each profession helps in different ways, and understanding those differences can save you time, money and a lot of frustration. I’ve broken it down simply (no jargon, no bias) so you can make the choice that actually fits your body and your goals.

Did you know Osteopaths have to do a minimum of 30 hours of Continuing Professional Development a year?

This can range from learning or refining new treatment techniques or modalities, or revising or learning about diseases or conditions which can affect it change your health.

Today it was a webinar about Menopause, which then led me down a rabbit hole, making sure I was up to date on Joint Health, Osteoporosis and recommended diets, and supplements.

sure you can add to this knowledge for me 😉

Understanding the body is at the heart of what I do as an osteopath

A.T. Still said it beautifully: when we truly understand the “engine” of the human body, we can help it move, heal, and function at its best.

This hip model is a perfect reminder of how interconnected everything is — bones, ligaments, muscles, nerves, breath, movement, habits, stress, sleep… it all plays a part.

Pain rarely comes from just one structure. Good assessment means looking at the whole person, not just the sore bit. By understanding the whole picture I can help you make small changes in mobility, stability, or daily habits can make a huge difference.

As an osteopath I work to understand how the body is functioning, within it's structure so that together we can restore balance — not just chase symptoms.

Cat–Cow: one of my all‑time favourite spinal mobility exercises
A simple movement, but such a powerful way to wake up your spine, ease stiffness, and reconnect with your breath.
Why I love it
Spinal mobilisation — gently moves every segment of your spine through flexion and extension.

Core + spinal stabilisation — helps the deep stabilisers switch on without forcing anything.

Nervous system calming — pairing movement with slow breathing reduces tension beautifully.

Perfect for all ages — from desk workers to gardeners to weekend warriors.

How to do Cat–Cow
Start on hands and knees, wrists under shoulders, knees under hips.

Cow: Inhale as you let your tummy soften, lift your tailbone and chest, and gently arch your back.

Cat: Exhale as you round your spine upwards, tuck your tailbone, and let your head relax.

Move slowly, matching each phase with your breath.

Repeat for 8–12 cycles, or as long as it feels good.
