January can be a very difficult month for many..
At Sidmouth Oasis Cafe the team love to bring a touch of sunshine 🌞 .. even if during the cold damp Wednesday's in January via sunshine yellow table cloths , flowers & our smiles..
Today we Celebrated the birthday of one our volunteers who has been with the team from the 1st session in the midst of Covid lockdown.. where best to open a Community Cafe when in social lockdown 😊. today we are still enjoying the warmth and friendships formed from that 1st session .

So if you feel the need for some Social Sunshine while enjoying a Light lunch , cuppa &, cake we are open every

Wow what a Wonderful Wednesday we had at Sidmouth Oasis Cafe today .
Thank you Britborn Busker for joining us in getting us in the Festive spirit.

Oasis Community Cafe will be open as usual on Wednesday Christmas Eve & New Years Eve. 12 -2 .. Leigh Browne Room Dissenters Hall offering light lunch with company , cuppa & cake .

Christmas Season 2025 is here.
So for the 3rd year Oasis Community Cafe will be offering a warm friendly safe space for anyone who on Christmas Day just needs a Cuppa with Conservation , we even have cake 🥰...

The team @ Sidmouth Oasis Cafe were extremely grateful to the Trustees of The Mustard Seed today.
The Unitarian Church and Hall had a power outage, so was unable to provide a warm space for Oasis Cafe today.
On contacting the Trustees they agreed Oasis Cafe could use the Mustard Seed Cafe.

Oasis Community Cafe will be back in The Leigh Browne Room next Wednesday 12 -2 .

Oasis Community Cafe are supporting this lovely initiative over the next few weeks ? On Wednesday's @ 10.30 to 11.30 in the Leigh Browne Room , Dissenters Hall, Sidmouth.
October 29th & November 5th 2025 .

Word Kitchen & "The Power of Place "

Are there particular places that mean something to you? A stretch of beach, a hillside, a garden, a roadside bench, a particular view? Pippa will give you some enjoyable writing prompts and ideas to tap into your memories and experiences of landscapes and places. We will then do some short pieces of writing, for example writing postcards to someone - or to our younger selves - describing a place and why you feel connected to it.
If you would rather talk than write, Pippa can record your memory and then write it up for you. You are also welcome to bring in writing you've done at home.

A selection of the writing that emerges will be printed (with your permission, of course) in a beautifully produced anthology, along with writing by young people from Sidmouth College, and a range of other authors and poets. The focus of the anthology will be on East Devon landscapes and places, and it will be called THE POWER OF PLACE. You will be invited to the launch party next year!

The Team @ Sidmouth Oasis Cafe will continue to offer a warm welcome during the sessions , plus the usual hospitality from 12 till 2pm ..

5th Anniversary of Oasis Community Cafe.
The team are excited about celebrating our 5th year .

A brief background to the Cafe which opened end of September 2020 , during the isolation experienced during the 1st Covid lockdown . Where I had coordinated Sidmouth Foodbank until July 2020 with the restrictions being lifted it became important to me to not only offer food to people but company. So the idea of a Community Cafe was developed.
I was joined in this vision by a volunteers that had stepped forward to support the Foodbank during the lockdown.

So now in 2025 Oasis Cafe continues to open on Wednesdays providing a safe warm space for all those wanting to share conversation, companionship while enjoying a light lunch , homemade cake with a cuppa .
Oasis has also provided a safe space for the last 2 years within the popular Community Seafest event and this year with support from Sidmouth Voluntary Services provided a mini bus for those with limited mobility to access the event in Connaught Gardens.
This year will see Oasis Cafe opening again for its 3rd year on Christmas Day .

On a very warm Wednesday what better way to cool down, than with the team Sidmouth Oasis Cafe .
Especially with the vibrant Art Exhibition installation by Graham Cooper. A ploughmavs platter followed by watermelon with homemade chocolate fudge cake and a choice of hot and cold drinks .

What a lovely Saturday the on tour team @ Sidmouth Oasis Cafe had at Sea Fest .
