Section 9 - Part 1 - 20th September 2022

Section 9 of the Two Moors Way starts at Knowstone and continues across Anstey Common and Hawkridge to Tarr Steps.

I have again split this section into two parts.

My first walk was Anstey Common to Tarr Steps following the official TMW path.

I made the walk into a circular and returned to Anstey via Parsonage Down, Worth Lane, Cloggs Farm and back onto Anstey Common.

Hope Bourne - 1918 – 2010

Memorial post with poem situated above Withypool on TMW route to Simonsbath.

Hope was a self-sufficient painter and writer.

She lived alone in primitive cottages and also a caravan situated at Ferny Ball Farm, a derelict, burnt out farm above Sherdon Water (a contributory of the river Barle) on Exmoor.

She survived by growing her own vegetables, fishing, and hunting for rabbits.

Known by many as the Lady of Exmoor, Hope wrote five books on Exmoor and one novel which was set in North Devon.

Hope featured in three TV documentaries and also wrote a weekly column in the West Somerset free press.

Section 10 - Part 2 - 14th September 2022

Todays walk was beautiful but hard work!!Simonsbath to Withypool. Had some lovely company today too 🐶

I followed the official TMW path from Simonsbath along the River Barle to Cow Castle. The path continued from here up over open moorland to Withypool.

Some amazing sights and views!! We saw a red deer and her fawn albeit quite far away! We also saw the Herd 23 Exmoor Ponies across the valley at Landacre.

A quick stop in Withypool at the Withypool Tea Rooms…..Pixie enjoyed her ice cream 🐶

Again I made the walk into a circular, returning to Simonsbath via Pickedstones. A really lovely but hilly path 🏔

So, for all of you who know me well you will know that I struggle with anxiety. At times things are great and other times, not so much.

Recently I have been struggling and I decided to give myself a goal, something positive to think about and to achieve for me ☺️

Whilst walking from Withypool to Tarr Steps this week I found myself thinking about the fact that the path I was following is part of the ‘Two Moors Way’. A walk I have always wanted to complete but would probably never get around to doing in one go!!

However…….I can do it in stages and I am going to 🙌 I am not setting a timescale and it may take a while BUT, I will get there eventuality.

This page is for me to document my walks and post my pictures. I will also add pieces of local information where I can.

I would really like to share my journey with you all and I hope you enjoy following my little adventure……Here goes!! 💪🏻 xx
