If you’re a carer, your body is working hard every day — lifting, supporting, helping, and moving in ways that can build up tension and pain over time. I know how easy it is to put your own health last, but neglecting your body can make pain and fatigue harder to manage in the long run.

As an osteopath, I can help support your posture, ease muscle tension, improve joint mobility, and help your body recover from the physical strain of caring.

If you’re feeling sore, stiff, or worn out, please don’t wait until it becomes a bigger problem. You deserve support too — and I’m here to help.

Send me a message or book an appointment to prioritise your health.

Osteopathy Isn’t Just for Injuries or Athletes

Osteopathy can support many people in everyday life, not only those recovering from injury or training hard.

If you’re a carer, you may be lifting, supporting, and moving others daily. This can build tension and strain over time, and osteopathy can help reduce pain, improve posture, and support recovery.

Parents and caregivers often experience neck, shoulder, and back pain from carrying toddlers, bending, and being in awkward positions. Gentle osteopathic treatment can help restore balance and ease discomfort.

Older adults can benefit from osteopathy too, especially when joint stiffness, reduced mobility, or age-related aches affect daily life. Treatment can help improve movement and support safer, more comfortable mobility.

Pregnancy brings major physical and hormonal changes that can lead to back pain, pelvic discomfort, and tension. Osteopathy can help support posture, ease pain, and improve comfort throughout pregnancy.

Osteopathy is about helping your body move and feel better, no matter what stage of life you’re in.

If you’re feeling sore, stiff, or just not moving as well as you’d like, send me a message or book an appointment.

Many of you know that I run my clinic from home and that means my wonderful dog Leo is part of my everyday life.

For some of my regular patients, he’s a familiar (and much-loved!) presence who loves to come and say hi and then potters off for a nap nearby.

That said, I completely understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and some people have allergies or anxieties. If you’re new, allergic, unsure around dogs, or would simply prefer a dog-free space, he won’t be around during your appointment.

Your comfort always comes first.

Have you met him yet?

As an osteopath, one of the most common things I see is how much the body reacts to pain, tension, and stress.

When we’re uncomfortable or in pain, our nervous system can go into a protective mode. That “protective mode” can make muscles tighten, movement become restricted, and stress levels rise - even when we don’t notice it happening.

Hands-on treatment helps in a few key ways:

1. It tells your nervous system it’s safe

Gentle, guided movement and touch sends calming signals to the brain.
This helps your body move out of “fight or flight” and into a more relaxed state.

2. It reduces muscle guarding

When your nervous system is on high alert, muscles tighten to protect the area.
Hands-on treatment can help release that tension, which tells your nervous system it no longer needs to protect the body.

3. It improves circulation and movement

When tissues move more freely, blood flow improves and the body can start repairing itself.
This is a strong signal to the nervous system that everything is functioning better.

4. It helps reset your body’s movement patterns

Often, pain causes you to move differently to avoid discomfort.
Hands-on treatment helps restore normal movement, which helps your nervous system stop overreacting to normal activities.

So why does this matter?

Because when your nervous system is calmer, you’ll often experience:

✨Less pain

✨Less stiffness

✨Better sleep

✨Improved mood

✨Easier movement

✨Fewer flare-ups

Hands-on care isn’t just about “fixing a joint” — it’s about helping your body feel safe again so it can function properly.

If you’ve been feeling tense, stressed, or stuck in pain, you don’t have to manage it alone.

Why people delay care - and why you don’t need to.

As an osteopath, I often see people who’ve been dealing with pain or discomfort for months, sometimes even years, before they finally decide to seek help.

And I understand why. Life gets busy, and it’s easy to push your own body down the list of priorities.

Here are some common reasons people delay treatment:

• “I’m too busy.”
Between work, family, and everyday life, it can feel impossible to fit in an appointment. But the longer you leave it, the more your body adapts to the pain, and the harder it becomes to correct.

• “It’s just a ni**le.”
A small ache can feel manageable, especially if it comes and goes. But what starts as a ni**le can become a pattern, leading to compensation, stiffness, and bigger issues later on.

• “I’ll just push through it.”
We’re taught to keep going, especially when it’s not debilitating. But pushing through pain can cause other areas of the body to overwork, leading to new problems.

• “It will get better on its own.”
Sometimes it does, but not always. And when it doesn’t, the problem can become more complex and take longer to resolve.

• “I’ve tried everything else.”
Painkillers, stretching, rest… and nothing has helped. Osteopathy isn’t just a quick fix - it looks at the whole body and helps restore balance and function.

So why shouldn’t you ignore it?

Because pain and discomfort are often your body’s way of telling you something needs attention. If you ignore it, your body may start compensating, which can lead to:

Increased stiffness.

Altered movement patterns.

Recurring flare-ups.

Problems in other areas of the body.

Longer recovery time.

The earlier we address it, the easier it usually is to treat. Osteopathy can help with pain relief, improved movement, and long-term wellbeing - not just the symptoms, but the cause.

If you’ve been putting it off, you don’t need to wait until it gets worse.
If you’d like to chat or book an appointment, send me a message.
I’m here to help you feel better and move more comfortably again.

A little weekend behind the scenes…

I headed up to London to catch up with two of my lovely osteopathy uni friends - there was lots of talking, lots of laughing and the kind of conversations that jump between work, life and everything in between.

We reminisced about old friends, shared patient case studies, talked about mental health and how deeply it affects the musculoskeletal system, post-op recovery, parenting and why we’re all a bit tired!

These catch-ups always remind me how important it is to make time for the important people in our lives, keep learning, sharing experiences and staying curious, especially as I’m really loving my functional medicine training!

Feeling recharged, inspired and very grateful. Back in clinic this week.

Age or stiffness doesn’t limit the benefits of osteopathy.

As an osteopath, I often hear people say they’ve left it too late, or that they’re “too stiff” or “too old” to get help. But I truly believe our bodies remain adaptable at every stage of life.

For me, osteopathy isn’t about forcing change — it’s about supporting your body to move more comfortably, calming sensitive areas, and helping you cope better with everyday demands.

You don’t need to be flexible or pain-free to benefit. I tailor care to where you are right now, using gentle, appropriate changes that can still make a meaningful difference.

👉 If you’ve been putting off care because of your age or stiffness, feel free to reach out or ask a question — I’m here to help.

“I’ve hurt my neck!”

And honestly… it’s awful.

This morning I woke up barely able to move my head, with pain running into my arm and it’s reminded me just how frightening and frustrating sudden pain can feel.

But here’s the thing: necks (and backs) don’t usually “just go”. There’s almost always a build-up - old injuries, altered movement, stress, tension, poor sleep… all quietly stacking up until one small movement tips you over the edge.

So if this has ever happened to you, you’re not weak, broken or doing anything “wrong”.

I’m sharing what I’m doing right now to help myself in an acute flare-up — including a really common mistake people make in the first 24–48 hours, and what actually helps instead.

Save this for later, or send it to someone whose neck has “just gone”.
