BUKC RETURNS AT BUCKMORE PARK
The British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC) fires back into life this week as the 2026 season gets underway at Buckmore Park Kart Circuit, with racing taking place across Thursday 29th and Friday 30th January.
As the first race meeting of the calendar year, anticipation is high, with a new season, new line-ups and early championship momentum all on the line.
THURSDAY: PREMIER AND CLUBMAN KICK THINGS OFF
Thursday sees both the Premier and Clubman classes take to the Kent circuit, with two championship rounds scheduled for each category. Across the day, every team will contest four races per round, making consistency absolutely vital from the very first lights-out of the season.
All races will feature random grid allocations. All rounds will be run to the Sprint format for this season. Adaptability, racecraft and teamwork will be key as the opening points of the year are fought over.
FRIDAY: INTERS TAKE CENTRE STAGE
Friday belongs to the Intermediate class, who will contest a single championship round. The day begins with practice and qualifying, before the all-important races get underway during the afternoon — offering teams a chance to learn and get up to speed before the points-paying action begins.
CHAMPIONS RETURN AND EARLY FORM
The Bath A squad arrive as the reigning champions, carrying the target into the new campaign and setting the benchmark for the rest of the field.
While this is round one, the Qualifier events held before Christmas have already given a glimpse at the early form book. Run across three separate days, the Qualifier victories were shared between Hertfordshire A, Southampton A and Surrey A.
Those results suggest a tightly packed field heading into the opening weekend — and that the fight at the front could be wide open from the very start.
HOW TO FOLLOW THE ACTION
Live progress across both days can be followed via the Alpha Timing results service, providing real-time updates as the championships begin to take shape.
