…and yep — I kind of have, although this is good information.. BUT what I actually want to chat about is what’s in our food — because that’s just as important.

These days, most of us are becoming a bit label-curious.
If an ingredient sounds like it belongs in a lab, we’re suspicious.
But here’s something that might surprise you…

Take a banana (yep, just a humble, innocent banana). 🍌
If you broke down its components, you’d find:

🧪 2-methylbutyl ethanoate
🧪 Palmitoleic acid

4 stone lost in 16 weeks in 2021

"Following the premature arrival of my daughter in May 2020, my weight
spiralled out of control. I was still medicated for post-partum hypertension a
year after giving birth and was pre-diabetic. Food became my comfort during
the trauma I had experienced.

By October 2021, I knew something needed to change—not just for me, but for
my family. That’s when I found The 1:1 diet. In just 16 weeks, I achieved my goal,
and I’ve never looked back!

👣 Celebrate the Step, Not the Stumble

When babies take their first step, and then fall on their little bottoms…
We don’t focus on the fall.
We don’t say “Well that didn’t go well!”
We cheer. We clap. We beam with pride at that first, wobbly, wonderful step.

💛 Somewhere along the way, as adults, we forget to do that for ourselves.

Instead of celebrating progress, we punish the slip-ups.
Instead of being proud of the step forward, we fixate on the fall back.

Let’s change that.

“Can I lose weight without exercising?”

Short answer? Yes, you absolutely can.
And I’m living proof.

I lost 7 stone – despite having very limited mobility, using a walker and wheelchair, and being on a long list of medications.

No gym.
No running.
No burpees in sight, thank goodness 😅

Just a plan that worked for me, the right support, and a whole lot of determination.

Short answer? Nope! 🙅‍♀️
Long answer? Let’s unpack it 👇

Carbs get a bad rap in diet culture — but they’re not the villain! In fact, carbs are your body’s preferred energy source. Your brain loves them, your muscles need them, and cutting them out completely can leave you feeling tired, foggy, and downright grumpy (hello, carb rage anyone? 😅).

Yes, some people choose to go low-carb and that’s fine — but it’s not the only way to lose weight.
What actually matters?
✅ Calorie deficit (eating slightly less than your body needs)
✅ Balanced nutrition
✅ Consistency
✅ Support (hello, that’s where I come in!)

1️⃣ Hydration is key!
Water helps fibre do its job. Not enough water = constipation city 🚱

2️⃣ Eat your fibre
Fruits, veg, chia seeds, flaxseeds – all great for keeping you regular.

3️⃣ Move your body
You don’t need to run a marathon — a 20-minute walk each day can help stimulate your digestive system 🚶‍♀️

4️⃣ Stress less
There’s a real gut-brain connection. Stress can slow everything down, including your bowels 🧘‍♀️

5️⃣ Still stuck?
Natural options like a little magnesium or prune juice can help, but always check in with your GP if symptoms persist.

Sometimes the little things — like dry skin, sore lips, or feeling extra tired — are actually signs that we might be missing vital nutrients. Here’s what to look out for and what you can do to help 👇

💤 Tired All the Time?
You might be low in:
Iron, B12 or Folate
These help your body make red blood cells – which carry oxygen! Less oxygen = more yawning and weakness.
🧡 Try: Red meat, leafy greens, fish, beans, eggs.

💇‍♀️ Hair Thinning or Brittle Nails?
Could be a lack of:
Iron, Zinc or Biotin (B7)
These keep your hair strong, nails tough, and skin clear.
🥑 Try: Seafood, mushrooms, legumes, dairy, egg yolks.

👄 Cracked Lips or Mouth Sores?
You may be short on:
B2, B6, B12, Folate or Iron
Even a sore tongue or swollen gums can be linked to nutrient gaps!
🍋 Try: Citrus fruits, poultry, tomatoes, leafy greens, wholegrains.
