🚨 Patients may be aware that there is a national policy around the availability of weight loss medication to some patients in general practice from 23 June 2025, specifically Mounjaro® as it is commonly known.

GPs in Lancashire and South Cumbria have not yet received confirmation that they will be commissioned to prescribe these medications.
We are awaiting official guidance and commissioning updates and until we receive this confirmation, this medication is not currently available from the practice.
We will keep you updated and let you know as soon as this changes! 🕒 In the meantime, we politely request that patients do not contact the practice about Mounjaro®.

If you wish to discuss it further please contact ICB patient experience team at lscicb-fw.patientexperience@nhs.net

Thank you for your understanding.

The new weight management medication, Tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro®), will be available to NHS patients nationally from 23 June.

Immunisations are crucial for safeguarding your child's health. Here’s why they’re important:
1. Prevent Serious Diseases: Protects against diseases like measles, mumps, and rubella.
2. Community Protection: Helps keep other children and vulnerable individuals safe by reducing the spread of illnesses.
3. Safe and Effective: Vaccines are thoroughly tested to ensure they are safe for young children.
4. Peace of Mind: Ensures your child is protected as they start school and interact with others.

We have been informed by our clinical system provider that following the IT outage on Friday, functionality has now been restored.

We have also been told to expect system performance to be slow throughout Monday as services come back online.

Can we ask that you remain patient with staff when contacting the surgery tomorrow as it’s highly likely that the system will be very slow and it will take us longer than usual to process requests.

For patients with pre-booked appointments, please attend these as planned.

We would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation, and we would also like to thank anyone who contacted us on Friday for your understanding whilst the system was down.

If you are sent a free NHS bowel cancer screening kit in the post, make sure you do it.

The kit tests for early signs of bowel cancer. It is easy to do and you can ask someone you trust like a carer to help.

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK. Some of the symptoms include blood in your poo, which may look red or black, and changes in your poo, such as having diarrhoea of constipation.

Other health problems can cause similar symptoms – but it’s important to get them checked by a GP if you have any symptoms for 3 weeks or more.
