The gardening season has begun for me .🌱
This week I’ve started sowing tomato seeds and chitting the potatoes, and it always feels like an exciting moment in the year — the cycle begins again.
There’s something very hopeful about planting seeds. At this stage, all you have is a tiny seed and a bit of faith that, with the right care, something wonderful will grow. It reminds us that progress often starts quietly, beneath the surface.
Gardening is also wonderful for the brain. Small, purposeful activities like planting, tending and nurturing can stimulate the release of positive neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and endorphins — the brain’s natural “feel good” chemicals. These support mood, motivation and wellbeing.
Each small act — planting a seed, watering, noticing the first green shoots — gives the brain a little sense of achievement and reward.
It’s a lovely reminder that growth takes patience, repetition and care… but the rewards are worth it.- here's a picture from last year's tomato harvest...
Sometimes the smallest seeds can lead to the most satisfying results. 🌱🍅🥔
