I’m so pleased to share a new way of working with me -
Welcome to Walk & Talk Therapy 😊

As a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, I help teenagers and adults suffering with anxiety related issues feel back in control, experience calm and build their self confidence to live happier and healthier lives.

My sessions are a combination of Positive Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. With Walk & Talk Therapy, we take the Positive Psychotherapy outdoors, incorporating gentle movement and mindfulness in nature. You will be provided with a relaxation track (hypnosis) to listen to in the comfort of your own home to support and enhance the work we do together in and between sessions.

Walking in nature has so many benefits for both our physical and mental health. My Walk & Talk sessions can offer you therapeutic support with the calming, restorative benefits of the natural environment.

Walking helps us to:

🌿 Boost mood and energy levels

Before Walk & Talk Therapy can commence, an initial consultation is required. This can take place either in person at Skipton Therapy & Wellbeing or online via video call - whatever suits you best. Walk & Talk sessions will then take place in the beautiful local area around Skipton.

I currently have space to take on new clients. I work with both teenagers and adults supporting them with the following;

As we move into spring, a season that feels like a welcomed fresh start and new beginnings, you might be noticing a shift within yourself too.

Perhaps you’ve been carrying something for a while and are now feeling ready to explore it and make a positive change.

As a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist, I support teenagers and adults to create positive change in their lives.

Whether it’s stress and anxiety, low mood/low confidence, difficulties with sleep or maybe you’ve got a habit you’d like to break or a fear/phobia you’d like to address.

I guide you to move forward in a way that feels achievable and manageable. And just to note that for phobia work, there is no direct exposure necessary in my solution focused approach.

Together we focus on where you want to be and how you’d like to feel rather than where you’ve been. We work in a positive forward focused way without having to revisit, relive or analyse ourselves and past experiences.

I am pleased to say that I have some spaces become available to take on some new clients from April. I offer a calm, supportive space to help you create meaningful positive change in your life to live happier and healthier.

Everything begins within our imagination. 💭

The place where patterns are first formed and, importantly, where they can be changed.

In hypnotherapy, visualisation gives you a way to gently rehearse new responses, creating different emotional and behavioural pathways instead of repeating the same unhelpful cycles that may be keeping you stuck, holding you back, and making your world feel smaller.

Because these patterns are held in the subconscious mind, simply “thinking differently” isn’t always enough.

Traditional therapies work with the conscious mind only, which can help to a certain degree of course.

With solution focused hypnotherapy you get the best of both worlds. A type of talking therapy complemented with hypnosis.

This means we work with both the conscious and subconscious minds. We bring them together in focus with what you wish to achieve, so that you can get the very best out of yourself.

With guided relaxation and imagery, we can access that deeper level of the subconscious where our problems stem from. We can work with old associations, and begin to reframe them over time.

What you repeatedly experience in the mind, the subconscious accepts as familiar, and strengthens this pathway in the brain. What is repeated in the mind becomes our default.

This is why we can begin to make any positive change you are seeking feel more natural and automatic over time. This is why I give you a recording to listen to consistently between your sessions.

Through neuroplasticity, positive change becomes automatic and long lasting.

I recently bought a stroller for my adopted dog, Bella. She has luxating patellas in her knees, which means walking can become painful for her.

Now, if I focused only on that problem, Bella’s world and mine could become very small. We might avoid walks altogether, or push through the uncomfortable.

Instead, I found a solution.

The stroller means Bella can still enjoy all the wonderful places and longer walks that enhance her quality of life. She walks to the best of her ability first, and when her knees have had enough, the stroller becomes an aid so we can keep going.

It’s not a substitute for walking.

It’s simply a support that helps us move forward.

Of course, not everyone understands.

I’ve received comments like:

“How lazy is your dog?”

“Dogs are meant to be walked.”

But those comments don’t frustrate or upset me. Because the people saying them are seeing a snapshot, not the whole story. They don’t see the thought, care, and love behind the decision. They don’t know the reason.

And that’s okay.

It reminds me how often perception and reality can be very different.

We see this a lot with anxiety too. When someone is feeling anxious, the mind can start to predict the worst possible outcome. It can make situations feel bigger, scarier, or more certain to go wrong than they actually are. The perception becomes that something bad will happen… when in reality, that prediction often isn’t true.

And when those thoughts take over, our world can start to become smaller as we try to avoid those uncomfortable feelings.

This is why solution focused hypnotherapy focuses on moving forward rather than staying stuck in the problem.

Instead of constantly analysing what’s wrong, we look for solutions.

Small steps that help someone move forward. Tools that make the journey easier. Ways of thinking or acting that help them keep going, to live happier.

To someone else, those solutions might not make sense. They may invite judgement, criticism or misunderstanding.

But the truth is:

You know what will make the difference.

I’m here to guide you to recognise what that is.

And your solution doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else!

✨ Why does anxiety make it feel like danger is everywhere?

It’s not because you’re broken.
It’s because your brain is doing its job.

Your Reticular Activating System (RAS) acts as a filter — highlighting whatever it believes is important.

If you’re feeling anxious, your brain can start scanning for:
• Threat
• Mistakes
• Rejection
• Worst-case scenarios

And the more it scans for them… the more it finds.

But here’s the hopeful part:

Your brain also responds to what you intentionally focus on.

When you begin asking:
✔️ What did I handle well today?
✔️ What small wins did I have?
✔️ What shows me I’m safe right now?

You start gently training your brain to notice safety, progress and capability.

That’s how change begins.
Not by “thinking positive” but by redirecting attention.
