Hello from the Yorkshire Dales! 🌿
I’m Indi, the heart and soul behind Asana Yoga by Indi, a peaceful studio in the beautiful village of Airton, North Yorkshire. I’m passionate about sharing yoga with everyone, from athletes and those recovering from injury, to women navigating menopause or on a fertility journey, and anyone simply curious about where yoga might take them.

I believe yoga has the power to strengthen the body, calm the mind, and nurture the soul, and I’d love to welcome you on the mat to experience it for yourself. ✨🧘🏽‍♀️

🌿 Summer Wellness Day Reflections

Thank you very much to everyone who joined us for yesterday’s retreat at Airton Grange 💚

✨ We began the day with a gentle Heart Opening Yin Yoga session led by Indi , followed by the most calming and restorative Sound Healing from the wonderful Kerry 
It was such a powerful experience. Filled with grounding energy, love, and compassion, giving us the space to truly rest and reconnect. We explored the heart meridian, which reflects the warmth, joy, and vitality of summer.
With the sun shining and nature surrounding us, it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. 🌿☀️💛🌸

🥗 After that, we enjoyed a nourishing, plant powered lunch prepared by Indi and Sophie. A beautiful journey through vibrant, Asian inspired dishes 🌱✨

💆‍♀️ The afternoon brought deep relaxation with Indian head massages by Jordyn , followed by Conscious connected breathwork guided by Grace 
It was such a powerful and beautiful way to release what no longer serves us. Helping us feel lighter, clearer, and more present both physically and emotionally.

🍋 We wrapped up the day with a joyful afternoon tea, where Sophie lovingly baked lemon drizzle cake and seedy green pesto muffins. The perfect way to end a nourishing day. Feeling grateful, grounded, and full in heart and soul 💫

🧘🏻‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️1:1 Post-Run Yoga | Recovery & Mobility Flow
A strong run deserves an even smarter recovery. Today’s 1:1 session focused on releasing the hips, hamstrings, and spine — essential for injury prevention and enhanced performance.

1️⃣ Child’s Pose
🔹 Targets: Lower back, hips, glutes, ankles
🔹 Benefits: Gently decompresses the spine, calms the nervous system, and releases tension from overactive hip flexors.

2️⃣ Low Lunge with Arms Overhead
🔹 Targets: Hip flexors (psoas, re**us femoris), quads, shoulders
🔹 Benefits: Stretches shortened hip flexors and quads from repetitive forward motion in running. Enhances pelvic stability and posture.

3️⃣ Half Split
🔹 Targets: Hamstrings, calves, Achilles tendon
🔹 Benefits: Deep stretch for tight posterior chain — especially hamstrings. Improves stride length and reduces risk of hamstring strains.

4️⃣ Quad Stretch
🔹 Targets: Quadriceps, hip flexors
🔹 Benefits: Releases built-up tension in the front of the thigh and hips. Essential for maintaining knee health and neutral pelvic alignment.

5️⃣ Supine Twist
🔹 Targets: Spine, glutes, obliques
🔹 Benefits: Decompresses lumbar spine, releases deep glute tension, and improves rotational mobility.

These stretches are effective for cooling down, enhancing flexibility, and reducing muscle tension.

1. Child’s Pose - 30 seconds. This pose helps to relax the body and stretches the lower back, hips, thighs, knees, and ankles.

2. Figure 4 Stretch - 30 seconds each. This stretch is great for relaxing the glutes and lower back. It also stretches the piriformis muscle, helping to ease tightness.

3. Quad Stretch (Lying on the side) - 30 seconds each. This stretch focuses on the quadriceps in the front of your thighs, which can become tight after walking.

4. Downward Dog Calf Stretch - 30 seconds.
This pose helps stretch the calves, hamstrings, and back while strengthening the arms and legs.

5. Legs Up the Wall - 5-10 mins. This inversion pose is excellent for relaxing the legs, reducing swelling, relieving backache, and improving circulation. It’s my favourite!💚

Please remember to perform these stretches gently and focus on your breathing. Stretching should never cause pain, so always listen to your body and adjust as needed. Enjoy your post-walk recovery!🌿✨ 🧘‍♀️

In the stillness of nature, we realign. With my legs up against the wall and in the gentle embrace of the butterfly pose, I ground myself to rediscover my inner balance. Each pose represents a small victory, and with every breath, I feel closer to ‘home’.
