✨ Amazing Adventures at Craven Nursing Home! 🏖️

It's been a busy and fantastic few days for our residents here at Craven Nursing Home!

First up, a few of our residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to Filey! We had a brilliant time soaking up the seaside atmosphere, and we were so thankful to have made it there and back just before the bad weather arrived later in the week. A perfect day out!

Then, we had the pleasure of attending the monthly Spellman Care Veterans Café! A huge thank you to our sister home, Steeton Court Nursing Home, for hosting us. It was great as always to meet and socialise with residents from across the group. This month had the added bonus of the amazing 'Thanks for the Memory Cabaret Show', which everyone thoroughly enjoyed!

We are already looking forward to our next outings and group social events!

🎄The Spellman Care Christmas Appeal is NOW OPEN! 🎁

We are absolutely delighted to share that our 2025 Christmas Appeal donation points are now officially open! This year, we are proud to be collecting for The Secret Santa Appeal, helping to bring Christmas magic to children aged up to 16 years old. 🎅

Your generosity can make a real difference this Christmas.

What To Donate:

❄️ No food or sweets, including chocolate, to ensure everyone's safety regarding allergies.

❄️ Please avoid expensive gifts to help protect children in challenging situations from potential theft.

❄️ Please don’t wrap your gifts or leave a personal note, as these can’t be given to the child

❄️ We suggest a gift worth around £5-£10

You can drop off your unwrapped gifts at any of our four care homes:

🌟 Joyful Moments at Craven Nursing Home! 🐶

We’ve had a busy and lovely few days here at Craven Nursing Home, celebrating remembrance, keeping active, and enjoying lots of cuddles from therapy dog Buddy!

On Thursday, the wonderful Claire Louise performed a fantastic Remembrance Day spectacular. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed singing along to all the classic war songs—it was a moving occasion.

Friday started with some beneficial one-to-one Otego exercises, followed by a visit from the amazing Buddy and Jane for dog therapy. Our residents always adore seeing them and getting lovely cuddles from Buddy!

Yesterday evening, a group of residents cooked their own tea, which they happily shared with their visiting family members. It was a wonderful time for sharing and good food!

📮 We received the most heartwarming post this morning at Craven Nursing Home! 💛

Our 'Adopt a Grandfriend' Scheme is not only bringing joy to our residents, but it’s also touching hearts across the country! This thoughtful card travelled all the way from Suffolk just to tell us how 'BRILLIANT' the initiative is.

It’s fantastic to hear people recognising how the scheme successfully tackles social isolation while helping children boost their confidence and social skills.

Since the successful pilot at Springbank, we've loved rolling it out here at Craven and across all our Spellman Care homes!

To the family who sent the card, thank you for your incredibly kind words and best wishes. ❤️

✈️ Reflecting and Roaming at Craven Nursing Home!

We had a very meaningful Tuesday here at Craven Nursing Home. The morning began with residents gathered in the Mallard Lounge to watch the Remembrance Day TV Service, offering us all a moment of quiet reflection and respect.

Later in the day, a group enjoyed a wonderful outing to the Hawthorne Farm pub for a delicious lunch! The location is perfect for a bit of excitement, and we spent a lovely time spotting planes taking off and landing—a fantastic and memorable afternoon trip!

Jess was nominated for her unwavering kindness, happiness, and positivity. She is consistently organised and thorough, making her a true asset to the home.

Congratulations also to Janet Vickers, our Runner Up! Janet was nominated for her kindness and attentiveness. “She always takes a moment to check on both my mum and me, asking if we need anything. When my mum is feeling a bit down, Janet has a special way of bringing a smile and laughter to her face. Additionally, she is aware of my mum’s food preferences, which makes a big difference.”

Remembrance Weekend: Crafting and Commemorating at Craven Nursing Home 🌹

This weekend was dedicated to honouring the fallen and embracing the spirit of remembrance here at Craven Nursing Home.

On Saturday, our residents spent time creating beautiful, handmade poppy wreaths and thoughtfully decorating the units in preparation for Remembrance Sunday. This activity was a wonderful opportunity for reflection and for our community to contribute personally to the commemorations.

On Sunday, we proudly joined the wider community at the Skipton Remembrance Parade. It was a moving and important occasion where we had the immense privilege of laying a wreath to pay our deepest respects to those who gave their lives in service.

We cherish these opportunities to connect with our community and ensure that the sacrifices made are never forgotten.

We will remember them.
