❓When can I start scar therapy?❓

This gets asked ALOT!

You can start straight from surgery…
🔸 once the dressing is off be looking at your scar (yes this is scar therapy!)
🔸taking really deep breaths - this helps with scar mobilisation (in cesareans/abdominal surgery)
🔸once scar is fully closed with no infection/stitches and staples removed you can start gently touching/sweeping on your scar.

When to book in with your first appointment in clinic.. around 6-8 weeks post operation

🔹 No signs of infection
🔹 stitches and staples been removed
🔹 scar fully closed

If you’re wanting scar therapy get booked in ready for that 6-8 weeks post op. We can always move should you/the scar not ready! But early booking ensures you’re in!

❓ my scar is old can I still do scar therapy? ❓

YES! Huge improvements can still be made on older scars!

😍 SILICONE 😍

Why do I bang on about silicone gels/creams/oils/patches for your scar? 🤔

Scars naturally are less hydrated, and silicone acts as a barrier to prevent at water loss therefore keeping your scar more hydrated.

This also prevents your scar laying down more collagen acting as a barrier. Laying down too much collagen means your scar can become keloid (collagen ontop of collagen and wider than your scar boundary) or hypertrophic (collagen ontop of collagen but stayed within scar boundary)

In clinic I only use the best products and have them available to purchase!

Clinic had a little visitor! Making sure his mummy and her friends were doing their jobs properly!

1. Waiting patiently in the waiting room
2. Reading Tiger Acupuncture leaflet
3. Tasting Jane Purvis IIR MAR - Clinical Reflexologist business cards
4. Jane did some reflexology in the waiting room for him as a taster
5. Leo enjoyed it that much he went to Jane’s room for treatment!
6. Had to sit on Brooke’s new treatment couch and look at her newly decorated room!
7. Sat on his mums treatment couch to compare to Brooke’s and see if mums room is tidy!

Didn’t manage to get photos in Elevate Counselling Practice room as Christine is a busy lady but she did manage to sneak a snuggle! And Leo banged Quantum Sports Therapy door as he heard that there’s another baby brewing in there!! 👶
