LFR attend a number of incidents involving aftermarket electricals.

Here a plug exploded when first plugged in. It was purchased from what looked like a reputable online retailer. It came from China with no British standard markings.

Advice for checking plugs on your appliances;

Look for cracks or damage on the casing.

Look for signs of overheating, such as discoloured casing or cable.

Check the plug meets British Standard BS 1363 – it will be marked on the back.

Check that the plug cable is firmly clamped into the plug and no coloured plug wires are showing

Training the staff and volunteers at Lincoln Cathedral!
Just recently I was privileged to be able to run 3 fire awareness courses and 1 fire warden course for the staff and dozens of volunteers that work at Lincoln Cathedral.
What a beautiful venue to work from, and to have the Cathedral in the background made it a very special 2 days.
I would like to thank Ian South for his organisational skills and the lovely people who took time out to update the their knowledge and understanding of fire safety.
It was a pleasure and a real privilege to undertake the training.

The main reason for smoke alarms failing to activate is because the smoke did not reach the detector. Does your home have enough detectors? You should have at least one on each level of your home but you could also install alarms in rooms that are used the most.
