We were delighted to host our Battle of the Blooms Garden Party in honour of our beautiful new garden makeover here at Signature at Farnham Common

It was a truly special afternoon, made even more memorable by the presence of residents, friends, and families who all came together to celebrate in such a warm and joyful atmosphere.

Everyone enjoyed a relaxed afternoon in the sunshine with plenty of fizz and beautifully prepared fruit platters, a real treat for all the hard work that has gone into transforming our garden for the Battle of the Bloom contest between our homes.

One of the highlights of the day was the maypole dancing, which brought out a wonderfully playful spirit, enjoyed by many residents, friends and family members. We were also treated to a fantastic performance from the Turf Tappers, whose lively entertainment added real energy and charm to the celebration.

It was lovely to spend such meaningful time outdoors in the fresh air, surrounded by good company and nature in bloom. Being outside in this way brought a real sense of wellbeing, helping to lift spirits, ease stress, encourage conversation, and create opportunities for gentle movement and connection.

We are delighted to share that Maschelle, our Clinical Services Manager/Deputy Manager, was invited to be a guest speaker at the Filipinos in Care(FiC) Second Anniversary celebration, held at St Mary Abbots Centre.

This was a fantastic opportunity for her to share insights, exchange ideas, and connect with a community of passionate and inspiring professionals who are making a real difference in the care sector.

Filipinos in Care (FiC) is a UK-registered charity powered by pride, purpose, and people. It is a growing community of healthcare and social care professionals. Led by those with lived experience working to uplift, empower, and represent Filipino and ethnically diverse workers across the care sector.

Through advocacy, mentorship, and community engagement, FiC continues to champion excellence, cultural pride, and professional development, while fostering a strong sense of belonging among its members.

We were delighted to welcome Anita Harris to Signature at Farnham Common for a very special afternoon.

Anita Harris, an actress, singer and entertainer, first rose to fame in the 1960s and 70s. She achieved chart success as a vocalist with songs such as “Just Loving You,” earning a Golden Disc, and became a familiar face on British television, including appearances on The Morecambe and Wise Show. Her acting career includes roles in films such as Carry On Doctor and Carry On Follow That Camel, alongside an extensive body of work in musical theatre and pantomime.

During her visit, Anita spoke about her career, sharing stories and experiences from her time in the entertainment industry. For many or our residents, Anita’s memories, stories and music reminded them of their younger years, hearing them performed live brought those moments vividly back to life.

It was a truly lovely afternoon and one that will be remembered for a long time. We are very grateful to Anita for spending time with us.

The most perfect spring day, spent exploring a local Bluebell wood 🌿💙

There is something truly special about being surrounded by nature; the gentle rustle of trees, the spring carpet of Bluebells with their fragrance and delicate beauty along with the gentle warmth of spring sunshine. Time outdoors not only lifts the spirits but also supports wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, boost mood, and encourage relaxation.

Moments like these are a wonderful reminder of the simple pleasures that bring so much joy; fresh air, companionship and the beauty of the natural world.

On Saturday, we were honoured to welcome Jodie Brook Wilson, widow of the late Des O’Connor, along with their son Adam, to officially open The O’Connor Library. This beautiful space has been lovingly dedicated in memory of Des, a true legend of TV and theatre.

In April 2025 Jodie generously donated to us copies of Des’s autobiography, “Bananas Can’t Fly”. These books not only sparked meaningful conversations throughout the home but inspired us to redesign our library, creating a special place that celebrates Des’s life and legacy.

It was wonderful to see residents, families, and friends come together to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea, and a touching poetry reading by a family member adding a truly personal and heartfelt moment.

It is so lovely to see these pre loved mobility aids going world wide to make a great difference! 💜

DISABILITY AIDS COLLECTION Rotarians Neil and Nick met with Wendy and Adele from Signature at Farnham Common to take delivery of five wheelchairs, a couple of strollers and several zimmer frames and crutches. These will soon be delivered to PhysioNet who recycle mobility and disability equipment to individuals in need worldwide. Many thanks to Signature!

We embraced the joy and beauty of art within Signature at Farnham Common for World Art Day.

Art offers so many meaningful benefits for our residents. It encourages creativity, supports emotional wellbeing, and provides a calming, mindful activity that can reduce stress and anxiety. It also helps to stimulate memory and cognitive function, allowing individuals to reconnect with past experiences and express themselves.

A particularly special moment was reminiscing over the artwork of a talented previous resident. His skill and passion truly shines through his pieces, sparking fond conversations among residents and staff. Celebrating his talent reminded us how personal and powerful art can
be.

What a fantastic time we’ve had celebrating the Grand National! 🐎

Our residents were fully immersed in the fun, from cheering on their chosen horses to taking part in our very own sweepstake, which sparked plenty of friendly competition 🏆

At Signature at Farnham Common, we are taking time to mark Parkinson’s Awareness Week by recognising the strength, resilience and individuality of those living with Parkinson’s disease.

We’re proud to be introducing a new programme in partnership with Horizon Rehabilitation, offering tailored classes which are thoughtfully designed to support people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s. The classes provide not only physical benefits but also meaningful opportunities for connection, confidence-building, and empowerment.

Exercise plays a vital role in managing Parkinson’s, helping to improve mobility, balance, flexibility, and strength, while also supporting mood, confidence, and overall wellbeing. By staying active and engaging in movement and structured activity, individuals build resilience which is an essential foundation that helps prevent further physical decline while also nurturing mental wellbeing.
