The Macmillan Information and Support Centre at Wexham Park Hospital, run by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, has received a top award for the support it offers to people affected by cancer.
The 🌟Macmillan Quality Environment Mark🌟 is the first in the UK that specifically assesses how well information centres provide support and care.
The Wexham Park centre received the top score of 5️⃣ and Kavita and Caroline, the team who manage the centre, were praised for the work they've done.
In their report, the assessor said: "Staff are congratulated on this significant achievement in exceeding the level required to demonstrate there is a quality environment for users."
To receive the award, centres have to score highly in areas such as use of space, comfort and atmosphere, personal and social interaction and health and well-being. Consideration is given to such things as the greeting people receive when they come to a centre, the use of natural light and outdoor space, and the availability of quiet, private rooms – all areas that were highlighted as really important by people living with cancer who helped develop the award.
Kavita Tailor, Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Officer at the centre, said: "After the challenging year everyone has had, it's reassuring to know that we continue to offer our patients, families and carers a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment where they feel welcomed and well supported during their cancer journey."
A huge well done to the team! 🙌🥳
