So I attended last nights first Cabinet under the control of Slough Conservatives. As An item of Interest & of long concern to myself was on the Agenda I attended with a request to ask a question on the subject item 5. On Which I underlined officers and the previous administration failure to deliver on its goals re its Low Emissions Strategy 2018/2025 Pointing out its failure in Planning, Rollout of Electric Charging Facilities including delivery of 7 Rapid Charging Points aimed at Encouraging the local Taxi & Private Hire Drivers to move to Electric & Hybrd Vehicles by delivering 7 Rapid Chargers. None were delivered! The original pilot Rapid Charger that was installed in 2016 had hardly been working since it’s installation no service/ management was in-place! A Government Grant Was Never Spent as Won for the Roll out & Maintenance of the 7 New Rapid Chargers? No Explanation of Where this Money Went Too (£160k plus)!
For year I had Tried to Get The Low Emissions Strategy Brought Back To The Licensing Panel Ref It’s Links to Taxi & Private Hire Fleet moving to Cleaner forms of Energy & A Newer Cleaner Vehicles Only to Have such A Debate Rejected!

Sadly only One Question per Resident is Allowed By Upto 3 Residents at Cabinet pre agreed in writing 2 Days before the Meeting are Allowed under Rules. I was the First Ever Resident To Use This Rule Last Night!

I would encourage other residents to Watch This Meeting Especially if They Have SEND & or Children With ECHP needs / Requirements to Watch this Meeting and prepare Questions for The Next Full Council As I See A real Issue Re Adequate Provision Here For Slough’s Children.

Just Love the wisteria in my garden. Now I’m not a Local Councillor I’ll have time to enjoy it more this year!

Today is National Child Exploitation Awareness Day.

National Child Exploitation Awareness Day highlights the importance of raising awareness about all forms of criminal or sexual abuse that involves the manipulation and/or coercion of young people under the age of 18 into criminal or sexual activity that can sometimes be in exchange for things such as accommodation, money, affection or status.

Any child or young person can be groomed/ exploited, and it can happen anywhere so it’s important to be able to spot the signs. Signs include:

Change in physical appearance (such as new clothes, more/less make up, poor self-image, weight gain/loss)
Dangerous or criminal behaviour
Sexually transmitted infections/diseases and or pregnancy
Having marks or scars on their body which they try to hide by refusing to undress or uncover parts of their body
Being defensive about their whereabouts and what they’ve been doing
Showing despair (i.e. self-harm, overdose, appearing drunk or under the influence of alcohol, looking tired, sleeping during the day)
If you notice multiple signs together this should give you a cause for concern.

If you see something suspicious, please contact call Slough Children First’s Referral and Assessment Service on 01753 875362 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) or the Emergency Duty Team for out-of-hours on 01344 351999.

You can also call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
