Thousands of Beagles have been surrendered to the authorities in the USA bred for lab testing. This is very recent news and the BBC has the full article but ….. this breeding is also happening in the UK. Please see Camp Beagle and Free The MBR Beagles. There is a national petition to have the use of animals significantly reduced and the implementation of alternative and more effective non animal testing methods. These animals are not protected by our cruelty laws as they fall under the home office regulations as Lab resources.

Revoke all licences (PEL) for commercial breeders of laboratory animals. Require all Project Licences (PPLs) applications be reviewed by an independent Non Animal Methods (NAMs) specialist committee. Revise s24 ASPA 1986 to allow review. Urge International Regulators to accept & promote NAMs.
