Marie was delighted to award the winner of our 'Guess the sweets in the jar' competition that we ran recently at Ely Community Day. There were 813 sweets in the jar and Tom was the closest with a guess of 800, that's pretty good guessing!! 😀

Please do start the conversation...

As the influence of massive media campaigns to drive direct cremation continues, driven by 'big business' rather than local professional care, many families are being surprised by finding, when their loved one passes, that they had purchased a direct cremation plan from a national business, without their knowledge.

This can be very upsetting for families who would have liked the opportunity to say their goodbyes through a funeral service; or would be willing to accept their family member’s wishes to continue with a direct cremation, but prefer to have the same service with an independent family funeral director, where their loved one would be cared for close by, where they would have the option to visit the Chapel of Rest and where the cremation would take place in a timely manner.

This video explores the advice given by a Funeral Celebrant, whose experience with bereaved families has urged her to reach out to those people considering buying prepaid direct cremation plan online or over the phone, to please start the conversation with their family or their local independent family funeral director, before they make a purchase…

Ely College Community Day, yesterday… Claire, Justin, Marie and Linda went along and they had a lovely day, meeting with lots of people from Ely and all around the local area. We ran a guess the amount of sweets in the jar competition, which had lots of entries.
We’ll contact the lucky winner next week to present the jar of sweets as the prize. 😋🍬🍬🍬🍭

We were privileged to be invited to attend the Child Bereavement UK Christmas Concert earlier this month, sponsored by the Westerleigh Group, who own crematoria throughout the UK, including two in our local trading area, Cam Valley near Saffron Walden and West Suffolk, near Bury St Edmunds. It was a star studded event for a great cause, some details of which we are sharing with you below.
