We are absolutely blown away by the amount of donations we received for our Easter egg collection in support of Solihull Hospital Children’s Ward 💛

I had the pleasure of delivering them today, and we can’t wait to hear how it helped make the children’s Easter extra special!

A huge thank you to everyone who donated — your kindness and generosity mean so much. And a special shoutout to Empire Services Ltd for your incredible contribution 🙌

We are proud to announce that Blythe Rose Specialist Dementia Care will be sponsoring Birmingham Walking Football Team’s kit! ⚽💙

Walking football is a fantastic and inclusive sport designed to keep people active, connected, and enjoying the game they love—no running, just great teamwork and skill.

Birmingham Walking Football teams are part of a growing community that:

Promotes health, wellbeing, and social connection for older adults
Provides opportunities for players of all abilities to stay active
Competes in local and regional leagues and tournaments
Creates a strong sense of camaraderie both on and off the pitch

At Blythe Rose, supporting initiatives that encourage active lifestyles and community engagement is at the heart of what we do, and we’re delighted to be part of their journey.

We can’t wait to see the team in their new kit—good luck for the season ahead! 👏

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Unique Dementia Café in Knowle – what a fantastic atmosphere! The room was full of joy as everyone celebrated St Patrick’s Day with live music, dancing, and plenty of tea and coffee. ☘️

I also dropped off some goodies and had the chance to invite everyone to our dementia transition talk at 2pm today.

We’re really excited to be working together on a new activity soon, where service users will be able to visit Blythe Rose Cinema and join us for lunch. Looking forward to what’s ahead!

Happy St Patrick’s Day from all of us at Macc Care! 🍀

From green decorations to a few Irish classics on the speakers, our homes are marking the day with a bit of light-hearted fun. Residents have been getting stuck into themed activities – no leprechauns spotted just yet, but we’re keeping an eye out.

Wishing everyone a great St Patrick's Day, however you’re celebrating!

At Blythe Rose Specialist Dementia Care, we had the privilege of celebrating the wonderful mothers who are part of our home. 💐

Mother’s Day is a special moment to pause and honour the love, strength and care these incredible women have given throughout their lives. Although dementia may change memories, it never changes the importance of the role they have played as mothers, grandmothers, and family anchors.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mums at Blythe Rose — today we celebrate you. 💗

Wishing a Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Macc Care 🌸

Today, we’re recognising the many mothers, grandmothers and maternal figures who are part of our homes and communities.

Whether it’s sharing a quiet cuppa, enjoying a visit from loved ones or simply marking the day in their own way, our residents are at the heart of today’s celebrations.

Thank you to all the women who’ve shaped families, supported others, and continue to inspire us every day.

🌱 Our Gardening Club is Back! 🌱

Our gardening club is back by popular demand here at Blythe Rose Specialist Dementia Care, and this year it’s bigger and better than ever!

Although we are still experiencing a cold chill and a little rain, spring is definitely in the air. To make the most of the season, we have introduced a sensory element to our sessions so that no matter what the weather is like outside, our residents can still feel as though they are in the garden doing what they love most.

With the calming scent of lavender oils, the gentle sound of chirping birds, and the vibrant colours of spring plants, our residents enjoyed planting their first pots of the season.

For people living with dementia, awakening the senses through smell, sound, and sight can be incredibly powerful. Familiar scents like lavender can trigger memories and create a sense of calm, natural sounds such as birdsong can promote relaxation, and bright flowers and greenery provide visual stimulation that encourages engagement and joy. Sensory experiences like these can help improve mood, spark meaningful conversations, and reconnect individuals with treasured memories and activities.

We can’t wait to see our garden — and our gardening club — continue to grow this spring! 🌸🌿
