Some magical moments in Wales.
Science tells us that spending time in nature lowers cortisol, calms the sympathetic nervous system and increases parasympathetic activity, the ‘rest and digest’ state. Just looking at water or trees can raise HRV, reduce heart rate and reduce blood pressure. How amazing ✨
In yogic philosophy we talk about ‘pratyahara’ - withdrawal of the senses from overstimulation, it’s our bridge between the outer world and the inner world.
Spending time in nature allows the body and mind to let go, perhaps that’s why for me it feels less like an escape and more like a return to the Self 💚
And of course, practicing yoga outdoors? Well that’s a whole other level 😜
