Boil the frog slowly and it won’t notice it’s being boiled to death. Are you doing this to yourself with the food you are eating?

The ultra processed food industry is designed to hook you in and before you know it you’re addicted and sick.

Eating these foods on the go, for speed, for fun, for connection, for comfort more than you are doing for your health and well-being is a recipe for a boiled frog disaster.

It’s hard to notice the effects as they are often clouded by the immediate pleasure they trigger. But there will be some like fatigue, irritability, cravings and weight gain.

A 10 day reset can often be the pause and time to get out of the saucepan and see what’s really going on. Maybe notice how bad you’ve been feeling all this time unnecessarily and courtesy of big profit processed food companies.

I know many people who don’t recognise the connection between what they are eating and their health. And some that do ignore it.

They are so focused on eating their emotions to pause and pay attention to the connection between what they are eating and how well they feel.

Removing certain ‘foods’ completely for 10 days can be just the pause people need to reset and address the connection.

You may see how bad you have been feeling once you start to feel good.

Try removing all the junk, packaged and processed foods from your diet. Keep real wholesome foods in. Keep an eye on how you feel.

Many people wouldn’t treat their car as they do their bodies, feeding it junk and rubbish.

Let’s face it some of us have been using food as a recreational drug for pleasure, for comfort, even punishment on a regular basis or for maybe more than 70% of our food decisions through the day.

Did you know?

- Every bite is a message that turns particular genes on or off
- Every bite can cause or reduce inflammation
- Each bite can drive disease or health

Affects takes seconds not decades too. If we want to live well and long we have to eat well.

If 70% or more of our food choices were based on what will nourish me, we’d be well on the way to turning our health around.

Food isn’t just an amount of calories to be manipulated to suit weight goals. It’s more than that.

Food gives instructions that upgrade or downgrade your biology with each bite.

I personally don’t come from the mindset of purely monitoring calories, I’m of the mindset of overall health and what information the body is getting.

Yes food can be tasty, enjoyable, fun, social time, quick - all of these things. But ultimately it is information to your body. Chose wisely, if health and longevity is your goal.

If you are regularly eating
- Trans/hydrogenated fat (breads, margarines, cakes, baked goods, pizzas etc)
- High fructose corn syrup (in many sauces, processed foods)
- Ultra processed foods (those with lots of ingredients you can’t pronounce)
- Artificial sweeteners such as aspartame (in lots of foods and diet drinks)

Then the answer is probably yes. So many people are.

Ask yourself:
- Who made this?
- Do I know what it is really made of?
- If I did would I really want it in my body?
- Is this designed to support my health or get me buying and wanting more?

The addiction centre of the brain lights up with high sugar processed foods - your brain is being hijacked!

The effects of these types of foods are immediate.

They cause inflammation, disrupt hormones, effect energy to name a few.

Now you know this, would you still want to put it in your body?

With these food groups, the best answer is to kick the habit, remove them from your diet and replace them with whole, real foods.

If you are regularly eating:
- Trans/hydrogenated fats
- High fructose corn syrup
- Ultra processed foods
- Artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame

Then the answer is yes. They are certainly not health promoting ‘foods’.

All of them, in some way, have a detrimental affect on health from driving inflammation, spiking blood sugar, triggering addiction receptors, driving hunger, fatty liver, gut issues and increasing triglycerides.

Now you know this (if you didn’t already) would you stop eating them?

If you’re finding it difficult to stop eating them know that your brain is being hijacked by the food companies who want you to be addicted and reusing their drug. The best approach is to eliminate them from your diet and replace them with real, whole foods.

What does this have to do with nutrition?

When you start to eat better you start to feel better. More energy, more life in you.
It helps you think straight and clearly on about other things, important things like connection and relationships.

Not only does my lovely client have more veg in her diet than she has ever had, she’s getting more intimacy than ever before with her partner.

‘I’m not as bothered if there are dishes in the sink these days, much more chilled 😄’

I hear so many people my age still sniffing co***ne and have been for years.

A healthy er****on needs blood flow.

Co***ne narrows blood vessels and over time this cause less and less blood to get to the tissue. Less blood means less oxygen, less nutrients and less hardness.

It also increase pleasure triggering neurotransmitters, this is short lived and you need more to get the same amount of pleasure, tolerance builds. Over time the neurons become less sensitive to sexual stimulation.

Damage is slow and hard to notice, it builds over time.

THE EFFECTS ARE POTENTIALLY IRREVERSIBLE

The answer is stop now or don’t start!

Seek help if you need it.
