Yoga with Anna Anna is a qualified Yoga Teacher, Level 3 Personal Trainer and Functional Range Conditioning Coach w

Anna’s yoga classes are light hearted and down to earth with an emphasis on having fun and figuring out what feels good for your body. There is no set style and instead she blends mobility training with traditional yoga poses to help you improve how well you move. All classes are open level and every age, gender and body is accepted. There will be options and variations of each pose to suit everyone meaning you can work and progress at a level that suits you. Funday Friday Top Tips💪🏼

If you are struggling to do full press ups then incline press ups are a great stepping stone to help you get there. The movement is exactly the same however being higher off the floor puts less weight in your upper body and therefore makes it easier to perform.

Set your core first: Brace your core and keep a straight line from head to heels — no dipping hips or arching.

Hand + elbow position: As you lower, aim for your elbows to track at roughly 45° — not flared out wide, not tucked tight to your ribs.

Control the descent: Lower your chest toward the bar/box with slow, steady tension.

Shoulder position matters: Don’t collapse forward or let the shoulders “roll” toward your ears. Actively pull your shoulder blades together and down as you descend.

Load the muscles not the joints: Keep the front of the shoulders stable so the load stays in your pecs and triceps and doesn't dump into your shoulder joint.

Drive strong: Push the bar/box away with power, keeping your body in one solid plank as you press back to the top.

As you get stronger you can then lower the bar until you are eventually able to do one from the floor.

A look back at last week when our Over-60’s crew crushed their single-arm landmine presses!💪🏼🏋🏼‍♀️

Unilateral strength work like this helps correct muscle imbalances, helps to stabilise the shoulder, and builds real-life functional strength; all incredibly important as we age. Strength training keeps bones strong, supports joint health, reduces fall risk, and helps you stay active, confident, and independent for longer🙌

So proud of this team for proving every week that age is just a number when you stay consistent and train smart!

How to properly engage your core💪🏼

Having good ‘Abs’ is something a lot of people obsess over however, we all have 6 pack muscles, if they are visible it simply means you have a very low body fat percentage. Core stability on the other hand is the use of your core muscles (which includes your re**us abdominals, external obliques, internal obliques, transverse abdominals & erector spinae) to stabilise your spine and pelvis, protect your organs, keep you up right, and aid in explosive movements like sprinting or jumping.

A lot of ‘ab’ exercises only work your 6 pack muscles (re**us abdominals) and ignore all the others meaning you can have a 6 pack but, not be able to stabilise your spine whilst running, squatting or jumping, which poses quite the problem when training.

Alongside teaching yoga, Anna offers 1-2-1 Personal Training and Mobility Coaching, helping clients of all ages and abilities reach their goals safely and effectively.

Working closely with Achieve Physiotherapy, Anna supports clients through post-injury rehab, guiding them back to full movement and strength with correct form and a focus on long-term progress.

As a former gymnast and Gymnastics Strength Training Coach, Anna also works with CrossFit athletes who want to master skills such as pull-ups, toes-to-bar, handstand push-ups, and muscle-ups, breaking down each movement step by step to build strength and confidence.

🗓 Available in-person at Achieve Functional Fitness:
• Mondays, Thursdays & Fridays — 6:30am–1:30pm
