We’ve just wrapped up our 6-week toes-to-bar cycle in our Gymnastics Strength Training class, and the progress has been🔥

In this week’s video you’ll see the class working on tuck hangs, with some athletes moving into L hangs; building the strict strength, control, and positioning needed for strong, efficient toes-to-bar. That cycle finished last week, and now we’re moving into something new…

👉 Next up: Handstand Push-Ups, with a little rope climb work added in to build upper body strength, confidence upside down, and better pulling mechanics.

If you’re a CrossFitter or functional fitness athlete looking to level up your gymnastics, or you’re simply someone who trains and has always been curious about this side of fitness, come down and give it a try. There are options and progressions for everyone, no matter your starting point.

💪 Stronger Bones, Stronger You: Why Women Need Strength Training 🦴

Strength training isn’t just about building muscle, it’s one of the most effective ways to improve and protect bone density.

🦴 How strength training helps bone density
When you lift weights, you place stress on your bones. Your body responds by stimulating bone-building cells, helping bones become stronger and denser over time. Research consistently shows resistance training can slow bone loss and even increase bone density, especially in the hips and spine.

👩 Why this is especially important for women
Women naturally have lower bone density than men, and after menopause, falling estrogen levels accelerate bone loss. This is why 1 in 3 women over 50 will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime.

⚠️ Why bone density really matters
Low bone density increases fracture risk, and fractures can be life-changing. Around 30% of people who suffer a hip fracture die within one year, and many never regain full independence. Strong bones mean better mobility, independence, and long-term health.

🏋️‍♀️ The good news? Bone density is trainable.
Progressive strength training is one of the best evidence-based tools we have to protect your bones as you age.

✨ Want support?
As a personal trainer, I help women learn how to lift weights safely and confidently, improving strength and bone density for the long term.

🎧 A must-listen for women 40+ who want to age well 💪✨

I recently came across an podcast titled the “Longevity Debate: The Truth About Weight Loss, Muscle, and Creatine!” where four leading women’s health experts unpack what really matters for women’s bodies as we age, from workouts to hormones, metabolism and strength👇

👩‍⚕️ Dr Mary Claire Haver — Menopause Specialist
👩‍⚕️ Dr Vonda Wright — Longevity Orthopaedic Surgeon
👩‍⚕️ Dr Natalie Crawford — Fertility Doctor
👩‍⚕️ Dr Stacy Sims — Female Physiology Researcher

There is so much emerging research and conversation around women’s health, hormones, muscle, strength, and longevity — especially through perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause.
And the message is becoming clearer than ever:

➡️ Muscle matters
➡️ Strength training is essential
➡️ Lifting heavier (safely) is not optional — it’s protective
➡️ Power and speed help keep us independent, capable, and confident as we age

For years, women were told to do more cardio, eat less, and avoid heavy weights. We now know that for long-term health, bone density, metabolism, balance, and independence — strength training is non-negotiable.

If you’re a woman in your 40s, 50s, or beyond and want to understand why and how to train in a way that truly supports your body, I really encourage you to listen to this episode 🎙️

And if you’re thinking:
“Where do I start?”
“I’m not confident lifting heavier weights.”
“I want to train properly, but safely.”

That’s exactly where I can help.
I offer 1-to-1 personal training and would love to support you in navigating this, building strength, and investing in a long, healthy future .

Strong isn’t just for now — it’s for life.

We also train power and speed — like the kettlebell swings you see here — because being able to move quickly and efficiently is just as important as being strong. It helps with things like preventing falls, getting up from chairs, and staying active and capable day to day.

✨ Personal Training for Real Bodies & Real Injuries ✨

In this video you’ll see a snapshot of the people I work with every week. These clips were all filmed on a Monday morning a couple of weeks ago, showing a very typical PT session lineup for me.

Clients with a wide range of needs, including:

• Two clients with arthritis in their hip (one on the waiting list for a hip replacement)
• A torn rotator cuff
• A facet joint issue in the thoracic spine & an ongoing rotator cuff issue
• A knee injury
• A client with hypermobility

Every session is tailored to the individual and their specific needs, injury, or goals. I use clear, progressive rehab methods and training protocols to support safe, effective movement to help you progress with confidence.

I work closely with the physiotherapists at Achieve Health, so rehab and training go hand in hand.

If you’ve ever wondered whether personal training is “for someone like you” — it is.
You don’t need to be young, fit, or injury-free to start.
