Ian’s story reminds us that dementia care isn’t about taking over. It’s about protecting who someone is. 💙
Born in 1940, Ian lived a life shaped by engineering, curiosity, and a love of Britain’s canals. Today, he lives with Alzheimer’s alongside his wife, Mrs. S, navigating change together with courage and care.
When Mrs. S first reached out, she was managing everything alone. Like many people living with dementia, Ian was hesitant to accept outside help and she was quietly carrying the emotional and physical load.
We took a gentle, person-centred approach:
✅ A relaxed introduction
✅ One consistent carer
✅ Care built around connection, conversation, and familiar places
Over time, those small moments made a big difference. Ian began to look forward to his visits, enjoying coffee outings, familiar faces, and meaningful social connection. Mrs. S gained precious time to rest, knowing Ian was safe, supported, and happy.
This is what good dementia care looks like.
Respectful. Consistent. Human. ❤️
