Here's a few tips to help you feel less stressed at work.
How do you stay mentally healthy at work? With our busy schedules, it’s easy to become stressed and overwhelmed with work and not find time for anything else. The trick is to find a balance that can boost your career or business – and your overall wellbeing.
As part of Mental Health Week we’re encouraging all Australians to take care of themselves at work. Scheduling regular walks or breaks, being able to say no when requests are unreasonable and avoiding checking your email or answering work calls out of hours, all contribute to positive mental health. It's so easy to get caught up in the comparison trap...continually admiring other people's lives and feeling yours doesn't match up. This is not helpful and can leave you feeling depressed and anxious. So instead of focusing on others, use that energy and turn your focus inwards and nurture your own wellbeing.
Our bodies show stress in many different ways, from mood changes to physical pain & digestive issues. Knowing when your body is telling you to take a break is essential in giving yourself that much needed headspace. As women, we’re often so busy caring for and supporting others, that our needs get pushed to the bottom of the list. We feel we need to ‘keep calm and carry on’and so we become experts at masking our struggles. But sadly, bottling up painful experiences for too long, can impact our health and our relationships.
But you don’t need to struggle on your own. I can help you to untangle your thoughts and feelings and to find ways to cope with your difficulties.
My name is Nabeelah Khan-Cheema and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist. I specialise in helping women who may be struggling with a major life transition such as motherhood, menopause or empty-nest syndrome.
I can also help with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, loss, anger management, low self-esteem and OCD.
How counselling can help
There are times when you may be reluctant to share your thoughts and feelings with family and friends. This is where counselling can help. It’s a safe place where you can talk freely about whatever is troubling you, without the fear of being judged.

A little about me
For the past 30 years, I have worked in the caring profession within the NHS. However, after personally experiencing the life-changing benefits of counselling, I decided to re-train to become a counsellor. As a midlife woman and a mum of grown-up children, I have also experienced many of the challenges that life throws at us. I, therefore, bring all my life experiences, skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to the counselling room.
I am very passionate about the work I do, as I have the great privilege of seeing women’s lives change for the better.
Contact me
Considering counselling can be a very daunting experience. So if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation.
