✨A little about me✨
When I’m out painting I often get asked about whether I come from a creative background, or if I have any formal training, so I thought I’d share a brief summary of my journey into mural painting 🎨🖌️
I graduated from uni in Bath with a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design & Illustration, back in 2000 (not sure where those 25yrs have gone?!) Prior to that I completed a BTEC Diploma in Art & Design in London, where my roots are 💗
Leaving uni, I started work as a visual merchandiser, working in department stores in Bath & London- making windows & in store displays look beautiful!
Love (& eventually marriage) brought me up to the Midlands a few years later, where I moved from visual merchandising into interior styling. Working for a design company, my job took me all across the Uk, buying for & dressing showhomes for a living!
Not long after having my 2nd child I decided that the travelling wouldn’t work for us anymore & I stepped down from styling. That’s when my lucky break happened 🥰
Knowing I had an art degree, I was asked to step in & paint a mural in one of the showhomes… and the rest they say is history…
15 years later I’m still doing a job I’m passionate about, & I feel honoured that so people have put their trust in me to create their murals over all these years! 🫶
Sadly things are never quite as plain sailing as we hope for, and we all face personal challenges along the way… becoming a widow at 41 & a solo parent to our 2 children overnight wasn’t something I expected to be faced with, and it definitely pulled the rug from under my feet for a long while. But it’s taught me so much about myself. I have so much more appreciation for life & following my heart- both creatively & with love 💕
Here’s to painting murals, lucky breaks, motherhood & the magic of making it all work!✨
