This excerpt from Huang Di Nei Jing encapsulates the essence of Spring in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Huang Di Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon) is an ancient Chinese medical text traditionally attributed to the legendary ruler Yellow Emperor. It was compiled roughly between the 3rd and 2nd century BCE, although parts may be older.

Considered a foundational classic of Chinese medicine, similar in influence to how Hippocratic Corpus shaped early Western medicine. It consists of two main sections:

Su Wen: Discusses theoretical foundations of Chinese medicine including yin–yang, five elements, organs, diagnosis and disease causes.

Ling Shu: Focuses mainly on acupuncture theory, meridians and therapeutic techniques.

Huang Di Nei Jing is important because the text established many core principles of Chinese medicine that are still used today and also documented Holistic views linking environment, lifestyle, emotions and health.

Instead of describing anatomy like Western medical texts, it presents medicine as a philosophical and systemic understanding of the body and nature.
