Explore the inspiring personal stories of some of the students who have already trained with us, their experience of our self-paced remote training and the benefits they are enjoying in bringing Shibashi to their communities.

We have many instructors across the UK and it would be wonderful to connect with more potential instructors so even more communities can begin benefiting from Shibashi.

In Chinese mythology and cosmology, the Black Tortoise (Xuanwu) commands deep reverence as the Guardian of the North, symbolising endurance and longevity.

In Daoism, the Black Tortoise is understood as a stabilising and protective force. It represents the balancing of natural and cosmic energies, especially those associated with water, cold and the north. Through this role, Xuanwu is believed to prevent disorder, avert disasters and calamities, and maintain peace and harmony in both the environment and human society.

In short, Xuanwu embodies steadiness, protection and equilibrium; helping ensure that destructive forces are contained and the natural order remains stable.

About Us

Tai Chi for Better Health is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to training Tai Chi Instructors in Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi. Shibashi is an easy Tai Chi to learn and is a set of 18 movements. The benefits of this form of Tai Chi include better balance, improved mobility, relaxation, relief from stress, anxiety and depression and an overall improvement in health and well being.

To date, we have trained over 200 instructors throughout the UK ranging from clients wishing to set up their own classes to volunteers working within Age UK, Ageing Better, and the National Health Service.

Our instructors Andy, Paul, and Tracey Have a wealth of experience and expertise. They have come together to offer this training as they have seen first hand the positive effects this form of Tai Chi can have on people’s lives.

We train companies, organisations, groups, and individuals. Where possible we aim to offer our training free of charge so that the amazing health benefits of this Tai Chi form can be enjoyed by people in their local communities
