📢**Introducing the Women's Health Hub** at 📍Buttercross Health Centre!

South Somerset West PCN is proud to highlight our Women’s Health Hub, based at Buttercross Health Centre and
running every Monday. The hub has been open since September 2025 and has already received really positive feedback from patients. 🎉

✨Supported by our two Healthcare Assistants, Lisa and Caroline, the clinic is led by Dr Kathryn Patrick alongside
highly experienced Practice Nurse, Shannon Buckley, both of whom bring a tremendous depth of expertise in women’s health.

✨Dr Kathryn Patrick has been a frontline NHS GP for over 20 years, gaining a distinction in her
MRCGP in 2005. She has always had a special interest in women’s health, having completed her DFFP in 2005. She
holds the British Menopause Society’s Advanced Certification.
She also has vast experience in public speaking, delivering educational sessions on women's health, including
menopause; for fellow clinicians, patients and organisations from the Royal Navy to the Royal Shakespeare Company amongst others. In addition to her clinical roles, Kathryn works in a leadership position in Somerset as the Director of Primary Care
for Somerset Foundation Trust, supporting better collaboration between primary and secondary care, including in the field of women’s health.

The hub offers a dedicated service for:
- Coils (fitting, checks and advice)
- Contraceptive implants
- Ring pessary reviews and management
- Complex menopause care

The service is free of charge and available to patients registered at any South Somerset West PCN practice:
Crewkerne Health Centre, Hamdon Medical Centre, Martock/South Petherton Health Centre, Buttercross Health Centre, and Ilchester Surgery.

A key benefit of the hub model is that it brings a dedicated, trained and experienced team together to deliver a service that is often provided within individual practices. This helps to free up capacity in local surgeries, supporting teams to focus on continuity of care, long-term condition work, and urgent requests.

Women’s health is an essential part of overall well-being, and this hub is an important step in improving access, choice and quality of care across our PCN. Over time, we plan to expand the services available, under the clinical supervision of Dr K Patrick, to meet more women’s health needs locally.

If you feel the Women’s Health Hub could support you, please contact your GP practice as usual to discuss an
appointment and referral into the service. 💗

About Us

We have now joined services together between Buttercross Health Centre and Ilchester Surgery, enabling teams to work across both locations to provide healthcare services to patients who are registered at both practices.

Both practices are part of Symphony Healthcare Services, a larger NHS healthcare organisation.

This means that we can offer services for our patients in the local area, across both sites, to help improve flexibility and services. You can choose to register at either practice and use our joint switchboard to book appointments at either location, by calling 01458 272473.

If you have any questions or need advice on how to register, please call the practice.
