I am an experienced human physiotherapist. After qualifying from the University of Brighton in 2011, I have worked in busy London and Essex hospitals and developed a special interest in pelvic health 9 years ago and since having my son understand the importance of pelvic rehab first hand. I have always had a passion for working with animals and started my training into transferring my physiotherapy skills into the animal world in 2021. I have grown up around horses and feel my pelvic health background gives me great understanding on how issues with the pelvis can effect rider performance. I am a proud owner of a Pugador, Bonnie and a Domestic short hair cat Bella who like to keep me on my toes! Please do get in touch if you have any questions or queries or would like to make a physiotherapy appointment by emailing me at Hollie@hppphysiotherapy.co.uk or visit our website www.hppphysiotherapy.co.uk

✨Pelvic Floor Stretches: Why They Matter✨

Taking care of your pelvic floor is essential for overall wellness, and stretching can make a world of difference! Here’s how pelvic floor stretches can help:

Improve Posture: Stretching your pelvic floor muscles helps you maintain proper posture and alignment, reducing strain on your back and pelvis.

Enhance Bladder Control: Strengthening and relaxing your pelvic floor can improve bladder control and reduce the risk of incontinence.

Reduce Pelvic Pain: Regular stretching helps ease discomfort from pelvic tension, improving mobility and reducing pain during movement.

Boost Sexual Health: Stretching the pelvic floor can enhance circulation and promote healthy muscle function, which may improve intimacy and pleasure.

Promote Relaxation: Stretching helps reduce overall stress and tension, promoting a sense of calm and balance.
Remember: Consistency is key! Take a few minutes each day to stretch and support your pelvic health. 🌿

Ladies, how well do you know your body? 🤔💡

Life brings many changes – from pregnancy and childbirth to menopause – and each of these events can impact our pelvic floor. But it’s not just big milestones; day-to-day activities like straining to use the toilet or heavy lifting can also put a strain on those muscles.

Your pelvic floor muscles play a crucial role in supporting your bladder, womb, and bowel, and helping with continence. When they’re not functioning properly, it can lead to discomfort, prolapse, or even leakage. 😬

Did you know? 1 in 3 women experience pelvic floor issues, yet many feel too embarrassed or scared to talk about it.

If you’re experiencing any pelvic floor concerns, don’t worry – there’s so much that can be done! 🌟 Reach out to a local pelvic floor physiotherapist to get expert advice and discover simple steps to take control of your health. 💪

Did you know I was a falls and vestibular rehab physio prior to specialising in pelvic health and veterinary physiotherapy?

This week I had the privilege of teaching the wonderful staff at Frank Foster House some general exercises they can do with their residents to help prevent falls and keeping up general fitness!

Today I had the absolute pleasure of being part of an expert panel hosted by Qufora at the Bladder and Bowel UK symposium! Sharing the stage with these ladies who really are experts in bowel care was such an honour and it was a great day spending time chatting with lots of pelvic health professionals 💛

I had the pleasure of treating this gorgeous boy today! Ozzie has luxating patella’s and had lots of muscle wastage around his right hindlimb. With a combo of physiotherapy and underwater treadmill therapy he is building up more strength and using his hind leg more. He is absolutely gorgeous and always gives lots of cuddles and kisses in his physio sessions ☺️🐾❤️

I have absolutely loved working as part of the physiotherapy team at Davies and will miss the lovely people and clients so much… who wouldn’t want to snuggle and make these happy faces feel better every day!

But all good things come to an end (apart from the m25 commute… I won’t be missing the 150 mile round trip 😆)

I now have more availability to see my own clients (human and animal!), if you are in Essex and looking for small and large animal or pelvic health physiotherapy please get in touch!
